The equinox always seems to be a divider. Traditionally we've been in autumn for a while now, but the equinox is when you start to feel it. Afterwards the temperature starts to drop. Seeing the higanbana appear is also a sign autumn is truly here.
Anyway, great photos! I had my honeymoon in Atami many many years ago. Beautiful city. It used to be considered one of the best places for vacations. That was long before I took a honeymoon there, which also was a while ago now. Those ryokan are great, many with onsen areas somewhere on their property. Lots of stairs and climbing in the city... but that just makes for good exercise, ne? Walking along the waterfront, did you see the statue of the fellow kicking the girl? (It's a scene from a famous book) That used to be a landmark used to meet people.
