I went on a hiking trip with my friends to Mt. Kang Irag Peak Campsite in Sirao, Cebu City. It was such a fun and unforgettable experience. I have always loved being close to nature, and this trip reminded me how peaceful and beautiful the mountains can be.
We started our day early in the morning, bringing our backpacks, water bottles, and snacks for the hike. The air was still cool, and the sun was just beginning to rise. Everyone was excited, even though we knew it would be a long walk. We took a few group pictures before starting the trail, just to capture our fresh faces before the climb.
The trail was not easy, but it was full of beautiful views. The path was surrounded by trees, plants, and the sound of birds singing. Some parts were steep, and we had to hold onto roots and rocks to climb up. It was tiring, but every time we looked back, the view made it all worth it. The green hills stretched far and wide, and we could already see the city from a distance.
There were moments when we stopped to rest and drink water. We laughed, shared snacks, and took pictures together. Hiking is not only about reaching the top it’s about enjoying every step and the memories you make along the way. Some of my friends slipped or got tired, but we helped each other and kept going. The teamwork made the climb more fun.
As we got higher, the air became fresher and cooler. The sunlight passed through the trees, and I could feel the breeze on my face. I loved hearing the sound of the wind and seeing the blue sky through the branches. It felt peaceful and far away from the busy city life.
After an hour or so of climbing, we finally reached a clearing. The view was breathtaking. You could see the rolling hills, the green forests, and the city of Cebu far below. It felt like standing on top of the world. We took a lot of photos there because the scenery was too beautiful not to capture. The sky was bright blue, and white clouds floated lazily above us.
At the peak, we saw a sign that said “Mt. Kang Irag Peak Campsite, Sirao Cebu City.” It felt so satisfying to stand there after all the effort. Everyone was smiling and taking turns to take pictures with the sign. I felt proud that I made it to the top. It wasn’t an easy climb, but it was worth every step.
Nearby, there was a wide open space where several tents were set up. The campsite looked cozy and peaceful, with a few trees providing shade. Some campers were sitting outside their tents, chatting, and enjoying the view. It made me think how nice it would be to stay overnight there watching the sunset, sleeping under the stars, and waking up to the sunrise.
We also found a perfect spot with big rocks and a tall tree standing alone. From there, you could see the whole landscape the green hills, the blue sky, and the city far below. I sat on one of the rocks for a while just to rest and take it all in. The wind was strong but refreshing, and it felt so freeing. That quiet moment, just sitting and looking at nature, made me feel thankful. Sometimes, it’s good to pause and just enjoy where you are.
After spending some time at the top, we explored the area a bit and took more pictures. Everyone was in such a good mood. The laughter and stories made the day even better. We talked about how beautiful Cebu is and how many hidden gems it still has to offer. Mt. Kang Irag Peak is definitely one of them a perfect place for people who love hiking, camping, or simply being in nature.
When it was time to go down, we carefully followed the trail again. Going down was easier, but we had to be careful not to slip. We passed by the same trees and paths, but this time, we were more relaxed and talked about our favorite parts of the trip. Some said it was the view from the top, others said it was the teamwork and laughter we shared. For me, it was everything the journey, the view, and the peace I felt.
By the time we reached the bottom, we were tired but happy. Our clothes were dusty, our legs ached, but our hearts were full. We treated ourselves to some cold drinks and snacks before heading home. As I looked back at the mountain, I smiled. It was a day well spent a day full of adventure, friendship, and nature’s beauty.
Hiking Mt. Kang Irag Peak reminded me how refreshing it is to step away from the noise of daily life and reconnect with nature. The beautiful views, the fresh air, and the laughter with friends made it a trip to remember. I hope to go back someday, maybe even camp overnight next time to see the stars and the sunrise from the top.
