Hello walkers and friends!
It's Wednesday again, and it's time to share another new walk, another route through another inspiring place, we visit familiar or new places, but there is always something that surprises us. A nice moment to enjoy the surroundings and after sharing it thanks to and the #WednesdayWalk community.
The walk through the downtown of a big city happened this past Monday, the day I went to the city, I live in a smaller town now but from time to time I return to the place that was my city for many years, the third largest city in Spain (clue 1), do you know what it is?
It is very pleasant to be able to walk through these streets, especially on days with blue sky and bright sunlight, something characteristic of this place. Because that way the most beautiful places look even more beautiful, color stands out, in the city whose own hymn says that it is "the land of flowers, light and love" (clue 2). It's true.
So in the heart of it, in the most frenetic area, in the busiest streets of the center, where there are more shops and companies, we discover a beautiful park, the Parterre (clue 3), now in spring certainly with many flowers and a lot of color but where a great monument stands out. An equestrian statue, of a great historical figure on horseback. It is about James I the Conqueror (clue 4) who liberated the city from the Muslim "yoke" (as it is written there) back in 1238 if I remember correctly from the history lessons at school, a character who even influenced the flag of the region for some events and his feats.
We continue to discover one of the most gigantic giant ficus that must be in this city, it is immense, it can be seen if we compare its large trunk and immense branches with the rest of the objects that are around it. Surely this wonder tree has witnessed much of that history as it must be hundreds of years old.
We realize the intensity of the sun, everything shines yes, but it is quite hot at those central hours of the day, I am surprised to see how we go from 31ºC to 32ºC already on these dates, although everything is very changeable in hours, and every day something different. This is the Mediterranean spring. (clue 5)
In the distance, an elegant and classic building, the Palace of Justice, but we continue ahead and see another beautiful building with the Spanish flag on top that we can already see from afar, it is the General Captaincy, the main building of the military hierarchy in the city, which was quite the protagonist of an event with tanks that took place back on February 23, 1981, but that's another story... (clue 6)
We look at the blue sky again and let ourselves go, perhaps it is time to change course, to turn down that other street, to see more buildings with a delicate and charming design, from different periods, with unique details, or more precious flowers, or another element that suddenly surprises us.
We continue walking, fanning ourselves, with our hand on our forehead to cast a shade, knowing what we will find or perhaps not...
Do you know which city I'm on a walk?
Thanks for reading! Have an inspiring and nice day.
Happy Wednesday!
