For our #wednesdaywalk initiated by , we decided to have a short walk to find the Toad's Mouth! We parked up near Hathersage, and walked along the road. It was quite frosty and lots of cars whizzing past. Crossing the road was even more difficult with only a narrow pavement at the other side.
On the corner, we found the Toad's Mouth, which is actually a rock! It had one eye carved into it but nobody knows how the eye got there.
Unfortunately, to get closer to it I had to climb over a stone stile but it was covered in ice. I just didn't want to risk it.
The brook was in full flow. It looked a nice walk on the other side of the wall but it was far too cold and icy today. It will have to wait for another day.
Precariously, we made our way back up the road. People drive far too fast these days, especially in icy conditions.
Thankfully, we made it back in one piece.
