Walking Wednesday Part 1
It's month end so things have been a bit manic. It wasn't a manic Monday, it was a Wobbly Wednesday so I got my camera gear out and decided to go for a short walk. It's something I need to do more often but I get swept away in ten million other chores and responsibilities and before I know it, the sun has set and it's too dark. Today I rearranged things so that I wouldn't miss the opportunity.
There's a little grassy knoll close to where I live which is perfect for a short walk. On the way I stopped a few times to admire the flowers at the houses along the way and got some shots of them, the pansies and hibiscus were so pretty, it looks like this particular hibiscus has a double flower. I love Black Eyed Susans so was quite excited when I found them flowering in between a copse of Daisies. They aren't the easiest flowers to photograph for some reason they confuse the autofocus ring. The dandelions are always around but I still love them. Luckily it hasn't been too windy today so the couple I found were full and looked like they were waiting for their photoshoot.
There wasn't much happening and nobody else was walking today which was strange considering there are usually dog walkers and kids. I think I got there earlier than most so only the game birds were out having a little stroll...probably digging up roots and grubs for their evening meal.
The traffic on the roads nearby had already started piling up with people trying to get home and I was glad I wasn't sitting in it instead of walking. I'm always grateful for the little mercies like that. The sky was overcast and it looks like rain here in the next few days but it made for a pleasantly cool walk and generally ok lighting to take some photos. I was happy to some new pics as I decided yesterday that I really need to try using Lightroom instead of Photoshop and I found it's so much easier and far more user friendly. It's also a lot faster.
The one house on the edge of the greenbelt has planted such a pretty little garden along the verge and the Nasturtiams were brightly soaking up the sunlight. I love it when they have this mottled look to them, some of them are that really deep orange but this one was showing off. I know some people eat them in salads but I've always found the taste a bit too strong for my liking so I didn't pick any.
That orange succulent was all the colours of autumn, it looks like some sort of ornamental. I just loved how it contrasted with the pale blue patch in the afternoon sky.
Even though it was partly cloudy, the brilliant pops of colour along the way made it cheerful. I always feel uplifted and more energetic after a walk and today was no different. I hope you enjoyed the flowers as much as I did.
