One of those places we visited was the Yumurí Valley, located in the province of Matanzas, in western Cuba.
I had always heard about the beauty of this place, but when I arrived and saw for myself what my husband had described, I think he understated it, because what I was able to appreciate and enjoy exceeded all my expectations.
Among the wonderful things I liked about this place is the quality of its beaches. Because it's located in northern Cuba and the waters run from north to south, the beaches on the north coast are clean and have very fine sand.
When I saw the photographs, I was fascinated by the turquoise color of the water, something that looks just as beautiful in a photo as when you're actually there enjoying the scenery.
Another of the things that What was truly amazing were the caves and the different formations within them. According to my husband, who has a degree in Geography, these are karst formations called stalactites and stalagmites. There are also lakes in these caves where you can cool off because the temperatures are quite low.
Finally, I was able to admire the local vegetation, and although it wasn't as abundant as in Other sites I've visited with my husband and his team of researchers, I really enjoyed as well.

Entre todas las ventajas que tiene el trabajo de mi esposo, una de ellas es visitar lugares de interés geológico y científico, que muchas veces coinciden con sitios de interés turístico.
Uno de esos lugares a los que llegamos fue el Valle de Yumurí, que se encuentra en la provincia de Matanzas, en el occidente de Cuba.

Cuando observé las fotografías quedé fascinada con el color verde azulado de las aguas, algo que se ve tan bello en una foto como cuando estás en el lugar disfrutando del paisaje.
Otra de las cosas que me maravillaron fueron sus cuevas y las diferentes figuras que hay formadas. Según mi esposo, que es licenciado en Geografía, estas son formaciones kársticas llamadas estalactitas y estalagmitas. En estas cuevas hay lagos en los que uno se puede refrescar porque las temperaturas son bastante bajas.
Por último, pude admirar la vegetación del lugar y, a pesar de no ser tan abundante como en otros sitios que he visitado con mi esposo y su equipo de investigadores, la verdad es que también me gustó mucho.
