It's Wednesday, and happy that the typhoon feels quiet now. Cagayan-Isabela, where I reside in the epi-center of the Severe Tropical Storm Ma-on, is named internationally or in Florita in our local Filipino name. Movement of people are now back to normal, and even classes in High school grade and college are now open this week is the first week of face-to-face course after the Covid Pandemic last 2019-2022, and now the new season of classroom-based school to welcome the student and the teacher to the room of education.
I also missed being in a class. Even though I have now finished my bachelor's degree, I am still hoping to start my master's as soon as possible, where I am still eager to learn more.
Last Monday, August 2022, the weather broadcast published an advisory about the tropical storm that could land in North Luzon. People in my place don't want to become comfortable with the movement news about typhoons or future calamities. Individuals separately wanted themselves to get prepared for what happened. In the past events, as casualties came in suffering, some properties were destroyed, and even life was gone for being unattended to the weather forecast.
According to the flash news report, part of Cagayan and most of Luzon's upper map will encounter intense wind and rain storms.
That's happened that some places are submerged in water from the Cagayan River and the Magat Reservoir. But that's not my topic for today. I will walk you up to what is happening after the storms in our place and my Wednesday activity as part of my every-week blog.
This weather looked like afternoon yesterday, and people were getting ready for the possible event for Tuesday sun didn't show up the whole day. I lived in the northern part of Luzon, protected by two valleys, that is why we have been called 'Cagayan valley' two mountains protect us from the heavy cold air. The Sierra Madre is the catcher of typhoons where the heavy wind will catch them to prevent the high attack winds.
I also lived in the upper land area and not even encountered an overflow, yet those residing in the lower part was the one affected most by the Ma-on. Floodings are all over the news. Affected areas from the typhoon Ma-on and those places that don't have any rain signals are also submerging their feelings in the water.
Firstly I did secure my animals, especially my rabbits. I brought them a wide cloth to intercept their typhoon hibernations, at least if the heavy cold of air would block them. Rabbits love the cold and windy, yet I am not sure if the typhoon will affect them too much; better, I will also prevent things that could happen to them. I can't imagine how cold they make me pity them.
Also, this morning, I removed the clothes immediately, which might make them uncomfortable if they lasted long enough. Lucky I did prepare their roughages in the early time of Monday. Do you know that feeding your rabbit with greens that were washed with rain or water could be fatal? Too much water affects their compartments and digestion, leading them to gastro-stomach and diarrhea. Typhoons or long days of rain are not suitable for the feeding diet of rabbits. Especially keepers don't give any sights, and feeding is the crucial thing in a successful rabbitry
Do you know I have a whole year's supply of citrus juice? This is Lemon Lime, a small three type of hybrid lemon I planted three years ago from my friend. Now I have a year's supply of the juice, and my lemons have not yet ripened. Then this lime is used to alternate the lemon sourness.
I am fond of juice, organically produced, and also it's free compared to others that need to buy their juice to taste some.
This morning as I walked, my eyes spotted a plant that I think will benefit me. I saw a familiar look of a weed that could soon grow to my advantage. I saw a grown-up weed in the canal that looked like corn or zeemays. I have been looking for this in my place, for it was also the best plant alternative for livestock feeds. I immediately searched for the plant I wasn't, compared it to look, and confirmed it was the plant I had been looking for so long.
I pull it from his original place and plant it in my backyard. It's not an endangered plant, so it's normal or acceptable to have it for my own. Soon enough, it will grow more, hoping I could at least help my animals.
I also took advantage of the favorable environment for breeding rabbits, a cold and windy season is the best time for breeding rabbits. They become sterile on hot days, so it becomes challenging for me to breed them. Cagayan is considered a desirable place in the Philippines.
I didn't get the best result in my attempt, and I think she was still preparing her body for the subsequent breeding.
TGIW Thanks God It's Wednesday, and also thankful that the typhoon left our place with no casualties or debris. But still, there were affected areas that needed more help than us, and I also prayed for their safety.
My week was focused on typhoons starting this Monday to prepare things to prevent things from other bad things from happening. But Wednesday is fine now, and a storm is crossing over. I wished for the safety of people who were affected and still suffering, for it's not yet over.
