This is Methoni and it offers an irresistible summerish package. Mesmerising sea, amazing beach, a charming little town and a medieval castle! And today I am inviting you for a walk around it, through my pictures and my words.
Let's start from the beach and the castle that is practically attached to it!
And now let's shake the sand off our feet and take a look at the settlement itself. It was July when I took those pictures and in the middle of the day. Obviously most of the people were either at the beach or taking a nap (our famous siesta time). But anyway I prefer taking pictures on empty roads, much less distractions :)
Of course walking in the heat of the noon during the Greek summer is not a very wise thing to do but in this case I actually enjoyed it! Let alone that the summer trips are about to begin and I am looking forward for some sweating to come!
I am putting here a link with all the historical facts that may interest you but most probably will get you bored. If you have read a few of my posts about Greece you should know by now the general idea. Populated for thousands of years, wars (lots of them), occupiers (mainly Venetians and Ottomans) and nowadays tourists (also lots of them) 😀
Overall I would describe Methoni as a neat place. The houses and the roads are well taken cared (in the picture above is the exception that proves the rule) and the vibe is definitely relaxing. An adorable place for calm and restful vacation! You know the kind I mean. Sea, sun, good food, sleep and all over again and again till it is time to go back home :)
This is my humble contribution to the #wednesdaywalk challenge, initiated by . I hope you enjoyed it :)
All the pictures and the words are mine.
