Hello Everyone !

Today, as every Wednesday, I will share with you my post for the #Wednesdaywalk community, hosted by
Hive account@tattoo-djay. On this post, I’ll keep on showing you the beauties of snowy landscapes. On that note, I headed to the Portage Hike & Bike Trail segment located near downtown Kent, Ohio. This segment of the trail follows the Cuyahoga River and it is very is popular among bikers because it is fairly flat. It is also used for walking, running and birding. Today ,however, as I expected, this trail was very deserted because of the wintry conditions.

The walk from my house to this segment of the trail normally takes 20 minutes; however, due to the large amount of snow that had fallen, the roads and sidewalks were all covered, so I had to walk slowly, and the walk took me 45 minutes. The houses, the trees, they were all completely covered by the freshly fallen snow. As I passed by these streets, I could smell the smoke from the chimneys that warmed those homes.

After a long and exhausting walk, I arrived at the trailhead. As expected, I was the only one there. The place looked bleak but picturesque. I made my way through paths which were completely covered by fluffy snow.

Along this walk is the Cuyahoga River, which is not frozen yet.Because of the lack of daylight, the river water looked black. It is normally of a brownish tone.

The low light of this cloudy and snowy afternoon gave the photos some grayish or bluish hue. That sometimes made me think that I was using by mistake a filter on my camera for some photos. These monochromatic tones were broken by some elements present in the environment such as houses or road signs.

After deciding that I had had enough of the cold, I headed to a friend's house, which located close to the trail. There, I rested and warmed up a bit, then I drank a cup of hot tea.
