Happy Wednesday Walk!
How are you, dear friends? Today I invite you to take a virtual walk to the Trinity Monastery of St. Jonas located in Kyiv. I visited this holy place at the beginning of April this year.
Привіт, друзі! Сьогодні я запрошую вас здійснити віртуальну прогулянку до Свято-Троїцького Іонинського монастиря (Київ). Я відвідала це святе місце на початку квітня цього року.
It was a beautiful sunny day. I decided to take a leisurely walk on the territory of the Trinity Monastery of St. Jonas since I had not been here for a very long time.
Був чудовий, теплий сонячний день. Я вирішила не поспішаючи прогулятися територією монастиря, оскільки дуже давно тут не була. Мабуть, востаннє я відвідувала це місце років 20 тому. Як відомо, Свято-Троїцький Іонинський монастир розташований на території Національного Ботанічного саду імені Гришка.
This monastery was founded in the 1860s by Saint Jonas of Kyiv. It is surrounded by amazing nature on all sides because it is located on the territory of the Hryshko National Botanical Garden.
Цей монастир був заснований у 1860-х роках преподобним Іоном Київським. За часів Радянського Союзу монастир використовувався як склад, свого часу там навіть була дитяча колонія. Більшість будівель була в напівзруйнованому й занедбаному стані, а сам монастир не діяв. Але з проголошенням незалежності України все було відбудовано й відновлено.
During the times of the Soviet Union, this monastery was used as a warehouse, there was even a children's colony there at one time. Most of the buildings were in a dilapidated state and the monastery itself was not functioning. But with the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine, everything was rebuilt and restored.
This old wooden bell tower caught my attention. I decided to take a closer look at it. The wooden bell tower was preserved in excellent condition. Pay attention to the carving! It looks amazing.
Ця стара дерев'яна дзвіниця привернула мою увагу, оскільки збереглася у чудовому стані. Зверніть увагу на різьблення! Виглядає приголомшливо.
It was so unexpected to see this small round window on one side of the bell tower! But I was most interested in seeing the biggest bell.
Так несподівано було побачити це маленьке кругле віконце з одного боку дзвіниці! Але найбільше мене зацікавив цей великий дзвін.
Look at these embossed inscriptions and images on the bell. Like lace on metal. Incredible craftsmanship.
Подивіться на ці рельєфні написи та зображення на дзвоні. Наче мереживо на металі. Неймовірна майстерність. Просто вражає.
I go further to look at the tower with the oldest clock in Kyiv, which is still working. This clock was installed on the tower in 1858. There is a small cafe on the first floor where you can order coffee. ☕
Я йду далі, щоб подивитися на вежу з найстарішим годинником у Києві, який досі працює. Цей годинник було встановлено на вежі в 1858 році. На першому поверсі є невеличке кафе, де можна замовити каву.
But instead of coffee, I choose the nearest route to the blooming part of the botanical garden.
Але замість кави я обираю найближчий маршрут до квітучої частини ботанічного саду.
How beautiful! This is despite the fact, that the rhododendrons, which are the most famous plant of the Hryshko National Botanical Garden, have not yet bloomed.
Як красиво! І це при тому, що рододендрони, які є рослиною-візитівкою Національного ботанічного саду імені Гришка, ще не зацвіли.
Look who else decided to take a Wednesday Walk in the botanical garden. This dog is so cute. 🐶 But there was another surprise waiting for me ahead. Because I unexpectedly met a squirrel!
Подивіться, хто ще вирішив прогулятися ботанічним садом. Цей пес такий милий. Але попереду на мене чекав ще один сюрприз. Бо я несподівано зустріла білочку! Вона така кумедна.

I turn back towards the territory of Trinity Monastery of St. Jonas to look at the Dnipro River at the end of my walk. On the way, I pay attention to this memorial, because I see it for the first time. The memorial was installed on the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence on August 24, 2021. I perceive this sword as a symbol of our indomitability, dignity and bravery.
Я повертаюся назад у бік Свято-Троїцького монастиря, щоб наприкінці прогулянки подивитися на річку Дніпро. По дорозі звертаю увагу на цей меморіал, бо бачу його вперше. Його було встановлено до 30-ї річниці Незалежності України 24 серпня 2021 року. Я сприймаю цей меч як символ нашої незламності, гідності та хоробрості.
When I looked at this incredible view of our full-flowing Dnipro River from the holy hills of Kyiv, I felt the incredible energy of this place. And this bright peaceful sky. It gives hope and faith in tomorrow.
Коли я дивилася на цей неймовірний краєвид на наш повноводний Дніпро зі святих київських пагорбів, я відчувала неймовірну енергетику цього місця. І це світле мирне небо. Воно дає надію і віру в завтрашній день.
