Here are some photos from a morning walk along the Sabana Grande boulevard, which I took recently while visiting Caracas, the big city.

I was recently in the capital taking care of some pending business I needed to resolve, and I took advantage of the morning to go for a short walk to do some shopping and reminisce a bit about those times when I used to work right in this part of the city, between Plaza Venezuela and Sabana Grande.

There, I walked along the cobblestone streets of the boulevard, looking at the buildings, mainly the La Previsora Tower and the Lincoln Tower. The latter building housed the offices where I began my career as an engineer several decades ago.

I remembered leaving work and walking to the Plaza Venezuela metro station to get home.

Sometimes I took the bus to explore the city, and other times I walked to get my bearings in that enormous city I didn’t know and didn’t want to get lost in.

The last time I visited Caracas was when I received my bachelor’s degree in mathematics. On that occasion, I came with my family in my car and had the chance to visit several of the city’s attractions.

As I walked along the boulevard, I watched people at the bus stops waiting for transportation to get to work, others walking for exercise, others doing their shopping, and still others sitting on benches enjoying the morning, chatting, and passing the time.

Caracas hasn’t changed much; at least this part of the city is just as I remember it. At that hour, there weren’t many people on the street, but as the day goes on, the streets fill up with passersby and street vendors selling their wares outdoors.

I was only visiting for a few days, but I enjoyed them to the fullest simply by going out for walks in my free time, because in Caracas there’s no time for boredom.

De paseo por el boulevard

Saludos mi gente caminante de esta comunidad de los miércoles en hive. Les deseo lo mejor en este comienzo de semana y comienzo de mes.

Por acá les comparto algunas imágenes de una caminata mañanera por el boulevard de Sabana Grande, que hice hace poco cuando estuve de visita por Caracas, la gran ciudad.

Recientemente estuve de visita en la capital cumpliendo con unos compromisos pendientes que debía resolver y aproveché en la mañana de hacer una breve caminata para algunas compras y recordar un poco aquellos tiempos cuando estuve laborando precisamente en este sector de la ciudad entre Plaza Venezuela y Sabana grande.

Allí caminé por las calles empedradas del boulevard observando los edificios, principalmente la torre La Previsora y la torre Lincoln. En este último edificio, funcionaban las oficinas donde me inicié como ingeniero hace ya varias décadas.

Recordé cuando salía de mi trabajo y caminaba hacía la estación del metro plaza Venezuela para llegar a mi residencia.

Algunas veces tomaba el bus para conocer la ciudad y otras tantas me iba caminando para terminar de ubicarme en aquella enorme ciudad que no conocía y no queria perderme.

La última vez que visité Caracas fue cuando recibi mi grado de licenciado en matemáticas. En esa oportunidad vine con mi familia en mi carro y tuve la oportunidad de visitar varios sitios de interés de la ciudad.

Mientras caminaba por el boulevard, observaba la gente en las paradas esperando el transporte para ir a sus trabajos, otros caminando para hacer ejercicio, otros haciendo sus compras y otros sentados en las bancas disfrutando de la mañana para conversar y pasar el tiempo.

Caracas no ha cambiado mucho, al menos en esta parte de la ciudad está tal como la recuerdo. Por la hora no había tantas personas en la calle, pero a medida que avanza el día, las calles se van llenando de transeúntes y vendedores ambulantes que ofrecen su mercancía al aire libre.

Apenas fueron unos días que estuve de visita, pero los disfruté al máximo simplemente saliendo a caminar en mis ratos libres, porque en Caracas no hay tiempo para el aburrimiento.
