My wife and I have been waiting a few weeks for the cherry blossoms to come out in the meadows, which is one of the larger parks here in Edinburgh. And they were out when we went tonight.
A number of paths criss cross the park and are lined with the trees, and they look fantastic when they are out in bloom.
They have only just started coming out, and are not even in full bloom yet.
We came last wednesday as well, and they were not out at all then (above) !
Its a really nice park. Its right beside Edinburgh University so its always busy with students out doing their evening activities, which is really nice to see.
We went along quite a few of the paths tonight trying to get the best shots we could of the trees. A lot of other people were doing the same.
After a long day at work for both of us, we were quite keen to get out in the fresh air and get some steps under our belt.
The clouds were also threatening to rain. We were pretty lucky, and felt a couple of drops just as we were getting back to the car at the end of our walk, so manage to dodge a downpour.
They are such pretty flowers that its such a shame that they only bloom for a short time each year.
By the end of our walk, the sun was starting to go down and give us a little sunset fire !
We also passed the old columns that line the park entrance with a Unicorn. The unicorn is one of the emblems of Scotland - because we have tons of them here !!!!
It was great to get out and see the blooms. We'll have to time it right and go back in a few more days to hopefully catch them at their peak. Some blue skies would also be nice !
A number of the trees also had these wee plaques attached to them. You can adopt them !
Well yet again wednesday walk gave us a great excuse to get out of the house this evening. We thoroughly enjoyed it !
All the best from Scotland !
