On Saturday, November 22,2025. I went to Palabuhanratu city, the distance from my residence in Sukabumi city is about 60 kilometers and it takes about 2 hours by car.
Palabuhanratu city is on the south coast and is the capital of Sukabumi regency, west Java. After parking the car in front of palabuhanratu market. The market location is not far from the port, I walked towards the fishing port area.
The fishing port pond was full of moored fishing boats, due to the unfavorable weather. Particulary the strong winds. The were using the time to repair their boats, while others were preparing basic supplies such as rice, oil,and other supplies.
Fishing boats with outboard motors typically spend several days at sea fishing. Some of the damaged boats were placed in the maintenance pond. From the dock, I walked to the fish market, located in the fish market.
Located in the same area as the pier. Stalls lined the area selling various types of fish, including regional fish, tuna fish, tongkol fish, layur fish, and shrimp, squid, and shellfish.
Visitor looking to buy fish here must be good at bargaining, as the fish market is a traditional market with a bargaining system. There are heavy equipment and construction iron in the port area,which Will repair damaged construction.
The public beach area is located next to the harbor, and is used by the community for fishing. One person can use more than one fishing rod, hoping to catch a lot of fish.
Several bamboo fishing rods called "Bagang" can still be seen ashore, preparing supplies to be taken out to sea, pulled by an outboard motorboat. The breakwater appears damage due to being hit by large waves.
