The location of the Vredeburg museum is on Malioboro street, not far from the Yogjakarta Sultanate Palace and also next to the Beringharjo traditional market.
Visitor who use vehicles can park around Beringharjo market, from the Vredeburg museum. Before entering this museum, visitor are charged a ticket of IDR 5000,-(five thousand rupiah).
Visiting this museum can be with family or a lone. According to information from the officer, this old building was built around 1760. This building was once a fortress, Netherlands as a defense agains't enemy attacks.
Looking at the layout of the building, this constructions id quite sturdy by using quite thick bricks with a mixture of reinforcements such as cement,sand.
Every corner of the building made a shape with a triangle maybe so that the corner of the building can see the situation in various directions of the every at that time.
We can walk to surround this place from the enterence to the exit,the area is about 4,65 hectares. Judging from the shape of the building this complex.
The combination of European architecture is combined with Javanese architecture, with high windows,consedering that Indonesia knous the tropical sesson, there is heat and rain. This building is a historic building for the City of Yogjakarta.
In 1992 this Fort building functional as Museum Benteng Vredeburg Yogjakarta until now. Visitor entering the Museum are guided by directions, from the entrance to exit.
This museum collects many types ranging from photographs of the struggle for independence, a collection of objects from the Colonial era news paper printing press, an art collection in the form of a statue of women sewing a Red and white flag.
The room in the building is diveded into several function, such as a diorama room, library room, conservation room, grass field, audio room, guest house,ware house and other spaces.
