Photos featured are from my collection. Silver Pagoda, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, February, 2020.
The temple of the Silver Pagoda is within the Royal Palace compound. It's quite a long walk, but one could take his/ her time in touring the place. Before entering, we passed by this gate with the figure of the apsara. For fun's sake, our tour guide, Mr. Sean, suggested we pose by this figure.
LOL! That's me, probably looking silly, but it's done in the spirit of fun. Mr. Sean did mention a lot of folks have their photos taken here, and then they share them on social media.
Painted walls line this side of the hallway across from the temple. This area is being restored, but the project has yet to be completed. We also took a video that I'm sharing below:
We passed by a group with their tour guide giving a backgrounder to the painted walls.
The stupa - a bell-shaped structure is actually the final resting place of important people in Cambodia, like the former king and queen.
Just like in the Royal Palace, we could take a peek inside, but taking photos is not allowed. The whole interior is made of silver. Interesting place indeed.
Before leaving the compound, I couldn't help but pose in front of this Angkor Wat model. We were traveling to Siem Reap the following day and were just as excited for our temple runs.
Have a midweek everyone! Be safe and well, wherever you are in the world!
