This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, (of the #wednesdaywalk) and
(of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.
If you want to know more about the rules, visit this post by where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.
In today's post, I'll cover a lovely walk we took on a recent outing. Last week, I wrote about the great service we received from SPUR. Today's photos were taken on the same outing, but today I focus more on the surrounding areas where we walked on the same day.
When we went down to Amanzimtoti to collect a voucher from SPUR, it was an excellent opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and take a nice walk along the beach.
Well, the walking actually started even before we got to the SPUR or the beach.
Amanzimtoti is a small town on the East coast of South Africa, just south of Durban.
As we entered the Amanzimtoti area, passing the Amanzimtoti Country Club, we noticed a huge ship just off the coast. We often see these ships in this area and they always fascinate me.
I stand to be corrected, but as far as I know, these ships are involved with delivering fuel to South Africa. We passed the refinery a short while before we got to this location.
One of these ships was at anchor again and I pulled over to get some photos.
I pulled over just above the Amanzimtoti Country Club, looking out over the golf course, framing the ship with a welcome board, announcing our arrival at the Sapphire Coast.
I took the next photo, also looking out over the golf course, but zooming in a bit to get a better image of the ship.
I got back into the car and we drove down a side road to get closer to the beach area below us.
In the process, we passed just above the golf course.
In the next two photos, I zoomed in on these two guys, having fun playing a round of golf.
I got back into the car again and we went back to the main road.
On top of the hill, I turned down another side road. I knew it would also give me a nice view of the ship from here.
Going down to the end of this road, I knew I would have to take photos with townhouses and apartment buildings in the foreground.
So I only went down about halfway and got out of the car to take this photo. I loved the clouds on the horizon.
Below me, you could hear the surf coming in consistently...
From there, we went to the SPUR to have breakfast.
The SPUR is situated at the main beach of Amanzimtoti. So, after breakfast, we went for a walk on the beach.
Getting access to the beach.
Just as we wanted to go down to the beach, I heard a buzzing sound above us...
Looking up, I saw this para-glider casually flying by, enjoying the view from above.
We walked away from the main beach, going down south where there was less activity.
In my mind, I loved the image of this log against the background of the ocean.
Some rocks on the beach.
Walking down further, following the walkway just above the beach, the walkway eventually turns back up toward the main road, or you can choose to go left and go back onto the beach again.
We followed the walkway, going back up to the main road, where we turned back towards the SPUR where the car was parked.
I liked the way these apartment buildings were edged off against the blue sky...
As we got to the main road at the top, we turned back toward the car that was still parked in the parking area at SPUR.
From there we returned back home, so that was it for the day.
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
