I usually go around Hong Kong Island cities when I have nothing else to do on the weekend. The HK region comprises three districts but I seldom visit the other two, only when I want to go to the countryside. These photos were taken from Yeun Long, a humble town in the New Territories district. On my way to. finding the 87 Coffee, I decided to take a few quick shots. Despite having towering structures and a busy neighborhood, I find the place relaxing.
While it may be far from Hong Kong's major cities, this is nevertheless fairly close to Mainland China. You can even see Shenzhen from atop some mountains around the vicinity. I hiked one mountain near this place, and I might visit it again some other time since I didn't pin it yet at Pinmapple. This is regarded as a trading hub because of its proximity to Mainland China.
Like other cities, Yuen Long also has towering buildings and shopping centers. Though I have visited this town a few times, I haven't given it any exploration. I guess my recent visit was the first time I stayed in this town for quite longer. I saw some old areas that were still preserved when I was exploring it. The reason they stand out is that, in contrast to the big buildings in the center of the town, residential buildings in old areas are only two or three stories high.
Several bicycles parked in any part of the town are also noticeable. They are typically used by people as a means of transportation around the town. They could be able to enjoy exploring the town and save money at the same time. Visitors can even rent bicycles from certain stores for the entire day. It's been a long time since I've gone bicycling, so one day I hope to give it another go. However, I'm not at ease in places where there are large vehicles. I like to bike in peaceful parks or on quiet promenades.
After my delightful lunch at 87 Coffee, I started a new journey to finding my desired destination. I should say that I walked for a couple of hours trying to find it since there isn't any article guide online. I'll share about it one of these days. It was a tiring, yet fulfilling day.
Thanks for your time.
