Here in Africa cattle are of the utmost importance, demonstrating wealth it is now something one will be able to purchase via app, yes that is how much our people enjoy cattle.
Herdsman will take the animals anywhere finding green pastures often walking between houses, dogs become totally irate with these 'beasts' walking the streets, with them behind walls of gardens.
These photographs taken between houses higher up on the road we live, coming via an empty property moving along in the late afternoon.
Herdsman also have to negotiate where the best grazing is available, some water with many miles covered from dawn to dusk, it is his responsibility now many people object to.
Why object if they poop you have compost free of charge delivered on your doorstep, cows are normally docile taking commands from herdsman although at times the tend to wander onto the roads.
Walking the dogs at sports park the cattle coming through, this sight we encountered regularly, having to hang onto the dogs barking wildly. Being directed to the river where they crossed over after taking a lengthy drink.
Herdsmen have to watch over the cattle at night for thieves to creep into the kraal to steal animals, good cattle then sold with livestock theft relatively alive and well.
Africa is changing in trying to accommodate both ways of life, where these cattle are housed I am unsure, health by-laws, enclosed fixtures must be over the hill.
Over the hill is no longer rural so how far these cattle are driven daily to find grazing would be interesting to find out, perhaps it is in an informal settlement where no one will speak out.
City slickers wish to purchase shares in "Crowd-farming" cattle a traditional commodity is taking the interest of office workers, knowing their forefathers traded cattle showing prosperity and power.
No I don't own shares in cow farming, a fascinating initiative to try assist many uplift themselves through technology applying traditional methods most understand.
Now smiling we have a little farm life between the homes in suburbia where the flowers bloom after the rain, above is a rain lily which only blooms for a day or two after the rains have fallen.
Yes free roaming cattle may become more of a problem at the moment, herdsman are driving them where they feel the animals will be safe and fed. Watch when walking/driving you never know what is around the next corner....
Have a fun day wherever you are in the world, appreciate nature and everything she offers you.
