Some of our Baguio Escapade was more of walking. We can only ride a taxi when we're heading to the transient. So, before our flight going back home, we had so much fun over those stops. One of those was walking to the famous spot in Baguio, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Atonement.
It was recommended by our co-hikers to visit this place because they were already done visiting and picture-taking, too. So, let's go!
Cathedral of our Lady of the Atonement
The cathedral is one of the most visited spots in Baguio City. And is commonly called as Baguio Cathedral of the Catholics. Before we got here, we crossed Session Road street which colleagues wanted us to experience, too. It is believed that this church has been a refuge for some people during the Japanese occupation.
It has distinct twin towers where the bell and clock are and glass-made windows. People flock here to candlelight, pray, and attend the mass. Tourists used to visit here most probably for packages or DIYs and we fall on the first where this church is one of our side trips.
I may not be pro at traveling but I have friends who brought me elsewhere so I can enjoy the rest of my vacation. Where we enjoy walking from the session road up to the "almost-can't-reach" stairs going to the church. We had leg cramps and pain due to our hike but still managed to climb up here. It was gloomy yet we had to walk fast so we could run back to the van as much as possible.
We were welcomed by a young lady who sells Sampaguita (our national flower in the Philippines). I was amazed by how courageous she was to sell something on the street when other children chose to be lazy. God bless you, young lady.
This is the interior of the church. The color of the long wooden chairs compliments the designs inside. People went inside the church to pray and with fervent prayer, may God bless every pure heart who heartily prayed for the betterment of oneself, community, and the world. With this sacred place may God grant the desire of the heart.
The pathway to the cathedral was made accessible for everyone as it has a spacious area and on the side has a canopy so people would be safe from rain or the hit of the sun.
We had so much fun roaming around the cathedral and made our prayers, too. I may directly praise the Lord but that doesn't ruin the friendship we have. Thus, understanding and neglecting pride is what prevails all the way.
While taking pictures, an old man came to get our phone but we declined since we didn't want to be a victim in this far place. Yet, he insisted. Though we're doubtful we trusted him. He made some gestures to change pose in every after pose. Unexpectedly, he was a pro getting all these photos of us. We were shocked and thanked him later. With so much happiness in our hearts, we gave him a token. He smiled☺️.
This trip lets us embrace a sense of trusting people even if it's hard to trust anybody else. Not just a bare walk but a walk of life, too.
That's it hivers. Thank you for supporting and reading my blog. Toodles 🫰😉.
