Happy Thursday Hivers!
I remember way back in my college days, which was 15 years ago, the place where IL CORSO now stands was once an idle land, overgrown with nature. There were only a few people walking in the street, and sometimes there was none; that's how the place looked like before.
But seeing it now, I can say that the economy in Cebu has rapidly grown, particularly in the hospitality industry, although it can't be denied that it was greatly affected during the pandemic. Luxury hotels, high-end restaurants, and simple yet unique food stalls have been erected around Cebu.
It was 2017 the last time I visited IL CORSO. Although there were already a few restaurants erected in the place, there were not as many as there are now. Honestly, I felt astonished as I visited the place because it was my first time strolling around IL CORSO in the daytime, and I was in awe when I saw a lot of restaurants and food stalls situated in front of the coastline.
IL CORSO is just a 10-minute bus ride from our house, but I only visited here 2 days ago since I returned to Cebu. It was my niece who constantly suggested visiting the place because it has a nice ambiance, but due to the constant rain, we stayed at home most of the time. She had worked in one of the restaurants here before, which is why she knows the place very well.
Honestly, gloomy weather can sometimes be depressing. It's so nice to stay at home during the rainy season and do nothing except eat and have tea. However, living a sedentary life is not my goal, and it can be harmful to our health. So, I find ways to keep my physical, mental, and psychological health in good shape. Despite the crazy weather, my niece and I visited the place.
It was pouring down when I took a shower. We expected the downpour to last until the afternoon, but to our surprise, it stopped, and the sky slowly became clearer. So we felt a little bit of exhilaration because if the current weather continues, we can explore the place without getting drenched.
I was astonished when my niece brought me to this area. I never expected that there would be a decent and well-cemented road along the coastline.
It was already nighttime every time I visited the place before, so it was always dark, and I could only hear the soothing sound of the waves without seeing the view right in front of me. However, two days ago, everything was totally different as I savored its wonderful scenery.
We took advantage of the good weather and strolled around, checking out the different restaurants in the area. I remember the last time I visited here, there were only a few restaurants erected, but today the place is already buzzing with different restaurants and food stalls around.
But, do you know what was disappointing? The weather again 😅. From a clear sky, it became darker in a matter of minutes, and the downpour made us stuck in Lamesa food stall.
Since we were still full, we just ordered French fries and fish fillet so we could comfortably stay there while waiting for the rain to stop.
Since it didn't last long, we continued walking to the southern part of the place, where it is filled with high-end restaurants.
Until we reached the place where there were only a few restaurants and food stalls around, it started raining heavily again. We sought shelter in another food stall and ordered food so we could sit comfortably.
Our initial plan was to go home by 4:00 in the afternoon because we didn't want to get stuck in traffic. However, the rain stopped around 5:00, so it was already dark when we arrived home due to the heavy traffic. Although it was raining, we still managed to enjoy the whole afternoon. That was my experience at IL CORSO, dear hivers.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
