Spent my last week Wednesday Walk in the Sun. While 8 degrees (F) (-13C) and four inches of snow on the ground at home, I got to enjoy a wonderful walk in sunny Tampa Florida last week where instead of cold, it was a beautiful 70 degrees (21C).
Here's the views from the Hotel room, 22nd floor. Even better as it was a work trip and paid for!
There is a fantastic little "RiverWalk" right outside the hotel, a nice concrete sidewalk that goes up alongside the river. I did a nice little 5K walk up the path, and then into town for some great crab legs, wings, and cold pint of IPA.
Here's some folks that were enjoying the river on Jetski. I almost had time to rent a little green power boat, but when I went down that way, the line expanded and I didn't have chance to wait for it. Maybe for next time. The bigger boat looked fun too!
One of the interesting things was these birds. They seemed focused to all be sitting on this one building, and hovering about and around it. They weren't sitting on any of the other buildings, not sure why they were so attracted to that one. They seem to be some type of buzzard, but I wasn't able to get any good clear shots of them since just had my cellphone and no real camera.
I took at least a dozen pics trying to get some closer views of them in flight, but the cellphone didn't cooperate. What a great opportunity it would have been for the Sony Camera and Zoom lens.. Was kicking myself for not bringing it.
I did also get this decent pic of a squirrel that was only about 6-8 feet away, and not too bothered by the people walking the path.
I didn't see any alligators, but per the signs, they are around and about. I have a friend in Fla that fairly frequently finds them in their backyard.
