Hello everyone, welcome to my series post about historic landmarks inside the former Walled City or Intramuros. If you have been reading my post, I show some important things inside the Rizal Shrine, which are centuries old. Thus, that was only on the ground floor where the Philippines National Hero was captivated.
Today, joined me as I will give you a virtual tour as I wander around.
On the left side of the staircase, a Philippine flag was displayed along with Dr. Jose Rizal's monument. The stairs were like heritage houses. It was made of wood and was shining, evident that the place was well maintained.
Several pictures of heroes and other persons in the past that had contributed to his life.
Of course, one of those ladies that captured Dr. Rizal's heart and was his common-law wife during his execution, Josephine Bracken
At the left of Ms. Bracken's photo was the Audio room where you could sit down and listen if you wanted to know about the history.
The floor reminds me of my kid's days when Granny would ask me to apply floor wax and scrub after using DIY scrub from Coconut. Wooo, those days that I felt like I was being punished as it was so tiring to shine the whole floor.
Next to the audio room and his things being displayed, like his artworks, perceptions, clothes, written poems, etc.
what he used to write, the dry seal, and his business cards
A copy of his prescription issued to one of his patients
His fencing clothes as he used to have a match with Juan Luna
Summary of novels he wrote, his artworks, Rizal in old Philippine currency, and centuries-old documentary stamps.
Aside from this, what made me awe was seeing the old furniture and items originally owned by the Rizal family.
This six-seater wooden table shows how old it could be. On the top, some items used in the kitchen were displayed, like the Dikin or Pot stand, a round flat basket that looks like a winnower, and pots. On the floor were a manual grinder and a small barrel
The pots were different from what we are using this day as it was heavy! How did I know? Of course, I did try to lift it when nobody was looking, 😆
And I remember my Granny owned a manual grinder like that, where we sometimes grind some corn to be mixed with rice. I can't believe I am seeing it again and couldn't help but remember some good old memories of the past.
You will also be surprised to see these old wooden Plateras (cupboards).
Beside the cupboard was an oracle book written by him. Oh, I forgot to mention, but our National hero was a genius. If you want to know about him, you may check it here.
Another thing I love is here some displays were explained in a summary that even blind people could read.
My hands were itching to touch as I was curious about the texture, but the inner me didn't want to take the opportunity for special people to read about history.
It was almost twilight, and thinking I needed to travel by two trains as it was far from my place, I decided to leave the place. My heart was already happy and contented from the beautiful experience.
Thus, Dr. Rizal's bed near the exit lies and was secured by a glass.
Ahhh, wow, they still managed to keep and maintain it.
About four steps away from this was the balcony, which was connected to a passage outside the house. At the main entrance of Fort Santiago to be exact. You don't need to go down.
Passing here made me chill, for I don't know why. It felt like someone was watching me in the corner, as it wasn't that light. Plus, as you can see, I was a bit far from the couple in my front, and no one was at my back. Below, you can see the part of the prison cell ruins.
You might be tired and hungry after a long walk. No problem at night as the sun started to set, and the place was surrounded by darkness. An alfresco dining was set up.
Several lights were hung and decorated in the trees around that, giving a romantic and calming vibe. Saw these two ladies settled on the grass while filming.
As I said, there was an alfresco dining where you could dine and relaxing chilling while being serenaded.
I could still remember the lyrics sung while I captured these photos.
But darling, just kiss me slow
Your heart is all I own
And in your eyes, you're holding mine
Perfect by Ed Sheeran
Did you see someone kissing?😁
