A week ago, I shared about A tourist spot to visit in the heart of Manila, Philippines, if you have a limited budget.. Yes, it was Rizal park or also known as Luneta Park. Thus, I only highlighted the dancing fountain but was unable to share other details during the walk.
Let us start at the entrance;
Before reaching the gate, outside, these beautiful flowers were planted. Looking at it, I could see it was cared for well. There was even probably one of the staff that maintains the park watering all the plants.

As you enter the gate, you will see this old house with the Philippine flag on the left side! It took me a while to figure out what this building is for. It was a small canteen of information/admin. Yet, none of those at it was a guard house.
The park was wide and spacious and could accommodate a number of people who wanted to visit the place. What I loved was seeing a lot of trees and not only that! There were some birds' houses hanging on the twigs! Did you spot it?
Trivia
Above the photo was the monument of the Philippines' national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Why was it built in here?
On December 30, 1896, he was executed through a firing squad in Bagumbayan, which is the Luneta park now. Yes, this place! The statue honored his martyrdom, leading to freedom from the Spanish invasion in 1898.
Many people were taking pictures as they didn't want to miss the chance to save a memory of one historic place.
Have you noticed something? I mean the building at the back of the monument? That caused debates among lawmakers and government officials about why it was allowed to be built. It became a trending topic for months and was tagged as photobomber.
My feet were already sore from walking, wandering around, making sure I saturated the whole area! So we decided to go back to the fountain area to wait for twilight. We were both starving so we did try to look for food.
There was a lot of fast food outside the park, but the entrance and exit were too far from it. The other gate was still closed in order to maintain the crowd.
Delighted and made us smile upon seeing the food stalls sign only to be disappointed as the area was empty. Kiosks were already set up but aside that it was nothing.
The management may be still working for it.
Left with no choice, we headed back but this map on the ground caught my attention.
Map of Laguna Province as this is where Dr. Rizal was born and raised. Perhaps next month I will be visiting the house when my husband arrives.
Map of different countries he traveled back then.
That's it, I am really tired and exhausted so we continue walking and find a bench to sit on to have some rest. Few minutes were spent enjoying the dancing colorful fountain.
After, we decided to go home but again we were stopped by this;
Whoever idea was this, all I can say it was brilliant! It became one of the places at the park where people spent time to take some photos. The ambience gives a nice vibes. As we wanted to join the trend, we also strike a pose!
That's me and my walk buddy for the day.
Before I forget, you can ride in that carriage to tour around the park, just outside, along the road.
Thanks for reading, and that's all for this week's entry in Sir Wednesday walk in collaboration with
to make me smile. I hope I made you 😊.
