I had never heard of it, but the locals explained to me that it is a small fishing village with very few inhabitants (about 50). I was able to confirm this, as it seemed very lonely and with very few houses. They explained to me that to go to school, the children have to cross the bay in boats. Nunca había oído hablar de él, pero los lugareños me explicaron que se trata de un pequeño pueblo de pescadores con muy pocos habitantes (unos 50). Pude confirmarlo, ya que parecía muy solitario y con muy pocas casas. Me explicaron que para ir a la escuela, los niños tienen que cruzar la bahía en barcas. At the entrance of the small village you can see the Cuban flag flying and some houses. According to what I was told, it was a small village where most of the houses were of very poor quality, built of wood and with guano roofs. However, with the increase of tourism in the area, fishermen have expanded their activities and not only fish, but also make boat trips for tourists and some houses offer accommodation and gastronomic services, and this has improved the comfort of the houses. For those who prefer nature tourism, this is a very good option.
A la entrada del pequeño poblado se puede ver la bandera cubana ondeando y algunas casas. Según me contaron, era un pequeño poblado donde la mayoría de las casas eran de muy mala calidad, construidas de madera y con techos de guano. Sin embargo, con el aumento del turismo en la zona, los pescadores han ampliado sus actividades y no sólo pescan, sino que también hacen paseos en barco para los turistas y algunas casas ofrecen alojamiento y servicios gastronómicos, y esto ha mejorado el confort de las casas. Para los que prefieren el turismo de naturaleza, esta es una muy buena opción.
In the village there are some rustic jetties made with boards that look like paths over the sea. Some of them have been destroyed by time, leaving old pillars that still protrude from the water and serve as a stop for the birds that roam the area.
En el pueblo hay algunos embarcaderos rústicos hechos con tablas que parecen senderos sobre el mar. Algunos de ellos han sido destruidos por el tiempo, quedando viejos pilares que aún sobresalen del agua y sirven de parada para las aves que rondan la zona.
From the coastal shore of the small village you can see a small island in the middle of the bay, called Cayo Carena, which can only be accessed by sea, was an island a little more populated in the past, but life there is difficult, currently only about 25 people live there approximately, that day we could not find a boat to take us, I would have really liked to visit it.
Desde la orilla costera del pequeño caserío se puede ver una pequeña isla en medio de la bahía, llamada Cayo Carena, a la que sólo se puede acceder por mar, fue una isla un poco más poblada en el pasado, pero la vida allí es difícil, actualmente sólo la habitan unas 25 personas aproximadamente, ese día no pudimos encontrar una lancha que nos llevara, me hubiera gustado mucho visitarla.
Walking along the coastal edge of that town, we could see some sandy sea inlets between the rocks. I took off my sandals and walked a bit along those shores. You can see the calm waters of the bay of Cienfuegos, a small town surrounded by sea and vegetation, a natural and peaceful environment.
Caminando por el borde costero de ese pueblo, pudimos ver unos entrantes de mar con arena entre las rocas. Me quité las sandalias y caminé un poco por esas orillas. Se pueden ver las tranquilas aguas de la bahía de Cienfuegos, una pequeña ciudad rodeada de mar y vegetación, un entorno natural y tranquilo.
