Today I had a long trip, because I needed to buy some cardboard with which I make the packaging for our chocolate offer, which I had already run out. As the place where I would acquire these cardboards was in the municipality of Playa, I went with my son on the motorcycle and took the opportunity to take some pictures on the way.
Hoy tuve un viaje largo, pues necesitaba comprar unas cartulinas con los que hago los empaques para nuestra oferta de chocolates, que ya se me habían acabado. Como el lugar donde adquiriría estos cartones era en el municipio de Playa, fui con mi hijo en la moto y aproveché para tomar algunas fotos en el camino.
We took the road to the municipality through some of the main arteries of the city and I was able to take some pictures. That's the advantage of riding a motorcycle: I can stop for a second, take a picture and continue. We rode through part of the Miramar neighborhood, one of the most residential areas of the capital, which has large avenues. One of the things I like the most is that it has beautiful residences with beautiful gardens.
Tomamos el camino al municipio por algunas de las principales arterias de la ciudad y pude tomar algunas fotos. Esa es la ventaja de ir en moto. Puedo parar un segundo, hacer una foto y continuar. Atravesamos parte del barrio de Miramar, una de las zonas más residenciales de la capital, que cuenta con grandes avenidas. Una de las cosas que más me gusta es que tiene hermosas residencias con bonitos jardines.
On one of the corners I stopped because I found one of the graffiti done by Cuban artist Maisel Lopez, known as the 'painter of the colossal children'. He has left his mark on several corners in Havana, mainly in the Playa municipality. The graffiti has already lost its sharpness and it can be seen that it has been on that corner for a long time. I had never seen him before, but that crystalline look full of innocence, as if you were looking at a real child, never ceases to amaze me. I really like his art.
En una de las esquinas me detuve porque encontré uno de los grafitis realizados por el artista cubano Maisel López, conocido como el 'pintor de los niños colosales'. Ha dejado su huella en varias esquinas de La Habana, principalmente en el municipio de Playa. El grafiti ya ha perdido nitidez y se nota que lleva mucho tiempo en esa esquina. Nunca lo había visto, pero esa mirada cristalina y llena de inocencia, como si estuvieras viendo a un niño de verdad, no deja de sorprenderme. Me gusta mucho su arte.
On my way back home, I passed by the Puente de Hierro, a bridge that connects the municipalities of Playa and Plaza and passes over the Almendares River, near the mouth of the river. I always love to see it flowing out of the river into the sea every time I pass by, because this crossing has a lot of vegetation and it is nice to see this natural environment within the city.
De vuelta a casa, pasé por el Puente de Hierro, un puente que une los municipios de Playa y Plaza y que pasa por encima del río Almendares, cerca de la desembocadura. Siempre me encanta verla salida del rio al mar cada vez que paso por aquí, porque este cruce tiene mucha vegetación y da gusto ver este entorno natural dentro de la ciudad.
A little further on is the Cuban Art Factory, whose attached chimney can be seen from before crossing the bridge. Nearby, you can see its graffiti-filled walls and the posters that adorn it. It is the most artistic place in Havana, where various forms of art merge.
Un poco más adelante se encuentra la Fábrica de Arte Cubano, cuya chimenea adosada se puede ver desde antes de cruzar el puente. Cerca, se pueden ver sus paredes llenas de graffitis y los carteles que la adornan. Es el lugar más artístico de La Habana, donde se fusionan diversas formas de arte.
