Hi all,
Doesn't it sound super frustrating when someday you wake up feeling like doing nothing?
Maybe you'll put "The lazy song" by Bruno Mars on your speaker and then stick with your bed?
Maybe you'll pull out your phone and scroll down the new feed for a whole hour and still not feel like leaving your bed?
Maybe you work in an office and have to show up at 7AM and so this is even more painful that you have to drag yourself off the bed, go brush your teeth but feel like you want to rub your whole face with toothpaste thinking "ugh I deserve this!" 😂
Oh wow! It is even easier to get mad at yourself on a day like this!
Why am I mentioning these things? Cause obviously these are what happen to me and what I do to myself too, of course I do more crazy stuff and so do you!
But today, let's break this down and share some thoughts, experiences about this topic, so you know YOU ARE HEARD, and it's not just you going through such days! 😊
Yep! That's my hand! 🤣
Here are the points:
Breaking the cycle of discipline
Facing the fact that everyone does
What I do on days like that
1--- One of the most difficult things to do to stay on track on the journey of pursuing your goal, is not breaking the cycle of discipline!
I know it's hard! It is super hard, and life is full of temptations. We are human, and having emotions towards things is totally healthy!
For example, it takes so much work to not go out every weekend night, to stop drinking with friends when you guys are having a good time. It is hard to resist having a fried chicken wing while you have been going on very strict diet for a whole month already!
I took this photo on a party night, I love gin haha
And it is easy to blame at ourselves or feel ashame if one day we break the cycle of discipline and be unproductive...
2--- Being a perfectionist, I exprerience this extremely badly and often.
And one day, I woke up thinking: I am human, things can be done, things can get better... But one thing I need to carry with me along the way is "Learn to stay on progress and learn to take things relatively at the same time". That's probably the best thing I can do for my mental health!
3--- And so, today is one of those days.
I started out today feeling like doing nothing. It took me 1 hour to get off my bed and after blaming at myself for messing the whole morning up, this is what I did:
I told myself: Well! Just take a break!
I dressed up and took my motorbike out for a ride. I mean: Dress up! Look nice! 😆
The point of dressing up and looking nice is to look at yourself once again and see how bright the day can become when you treat yourself well. When you look tidy, you look beautiful, you definately feel more confident, you definately spread a fresh vibe to people around you. That's the start to refresh your day!
Here is the proof! This is me right now when I'm sitting in my favorite cafe and bread place to write this post! I feel epic! 😆
Before coming here, I decided to go get my favorite noodles for breakfast/lunch/brunch (I can't tell cause I woke up too late) - the point is: Treat yourself to something you really love to eat! Just have it! 😆
I told myself: Get into nature!
We are lucky to live in Da Nang - Viet Nam, we live in a city which is surrounded by beautiful nature, by mountains, rivers, beaches, waterfalls. It has been a cold winter here, rainy and windy as well. Luckily today some sunshine came right when I ran to the beach. I was shaking at first but then started to dive into the sunlight!
I was literally running and jumping hey hey 😆
And then saw a friend practicing balancing on a string! Wow!
I'm gonna try this next time when I'm not wearing a dress with boots 😆
Too much of a beautiful day that I forgot that it's winter and we had really gloomy rainy days before!
I told myself: Talk to strangers!
Oh wowho! Yes! I did tell myself so then started conversations with some random strangers on the beach. And by hearing how they were feeling being on the beach on such a rare sunny day, I absorbed their happy energy which boosted mine as well! 😊 Then I reflected it back on them by telling them why I was there on the beach: You know what? I'm doing nothing today, and I'm here to find some inspiration!
Lots of time we are afraid to let people know that we are not having a good day or we don't know what to do today. The point is to face it, admit it, take it all out, relax, have some laughs, then the inspiration will be back like magic! 😊
All are phone shots cause I forgot to charge my camera battery today haha but who cares! I'm going for my mental health! 🤗
I told myself: There are days like this, the key is keep nourishing myself!
Days ago I talked to a couple friends about breaking the cycle of mental and physical breakdown, and how they affect each other. And it is not easy to break the cycle to get back on track.
But if I choose where to break into the cycle, I'll start with fixing physical health first!
And what I did here in this post is to choose to clean myself up, dress up, find food and drink to fill up my energy, then go out to see new things for the day.
And afterall, when I sit here to write this, I feel like I already had a beautiful and fulfilling day!
It has been a simple day, but I did something even when without inspiration.
And the thing I chose to to is to nourish myself.
When you lost all your inspiration suddenly - Choose to nourish yourself at that moment, for that day, before you think of/or try to do anything else!
Everything comes from within. Give yourself some time to rest, to let things be, to "do nothing", to accept random things into your life. And you'll be alright!
I'm so glad I'm sharing this, I hope this inspires you like it did to me.
What about you? What you do when you suddenly lose all your inspiration one day?
Share your thoughts in the comments and we'll discuss further! 😊
Thank you for being here today! Cheers for good and bad days! Because we deserve this! ❤️
