The first snow of the season has arrived. And it's been quite chaotic here in Sweden. You might think that we are used to it. In a way, yes. But it's unusual that it snows this much in a short amount of time. It's hard for snow-clearing services to keep up. And now it also hit Stockholm, we are not so used to a lot of snow here. I heard on the news that the last time it was this chaotic was 6 years ago, in November 2016. That I remember very well because I was just in Stockholm for one night before boarding my flight to Bangkok. (With kind of no plans to return ever, haha). I was cold because I traveled very lightly and of course, I didn't want to bring any winter clothes. But despite the chaos back then, my flight wasn't canceled and I was off on an adventure 🙂
But this post isn't about that, haha. This is a Wednesday Walk post. I had returned to Stockholm only 2 days before so I really needed to go and buy some groceries. It didn't feel that appealing though, from what I could see looking out of the window (picture below). I know it shows somehow in the pictures but it was really snowing a lot. And it's not so cold outside, like 1-2 degrees Celsius so the snow is very wet and heavy.
This was 2 days ago, last Monday.
But well, I made it outside. And I actually took a detour on my way to the supermarket, thinking this would be great for a Wednesday Walk post 🙂
The stairs are slippery so you have to be careful.
It felt good not to own a car in this weather.
You can still see some boats, and as you can see, the water isn't frozen yet.
And some trees still have green leaves left.
Here I'm close to the supermarket. My jacket was full of snow...
On my way back now, the buildings below are the new apartment buildings they have been building for the past 2 years on my street. They are almost finished now.
So the images above are from around lunchtime. But I actually went out later again, then it was already dark (it gets dark here around 4 pm at the moment). A viewing of my flat was scheduled so my realtor came and I of course had to leave. I actually had an important meeting just after the viewing so I had to get back asap. Therefore, just a short walk again. Now I was lucky because it had temporarily stopped snowing (it started later again though).
It was rather beautiful outside 🙂 Below you see Karlberg Palace on the other side of the water.
And here you actually see the same building as in one of the pictures above. I wanted to take a picture of the old neon commercial sign on the building.
I didn't see anyone on an e-scooter (but a few on bikes).
A very wintery feeling for sure. It won't last. Today it's warmer and raining, turning into sleet. But I guess it will take some time before all of it has melted. That's more the kind of winter we are used to here. Slush. (I'm not a fan).
It was nice to be reminded of my flight to Bangkok 6 years ago. I kind of hoped I would be in Asia again by now. But I'm still trying to sell my flat. The market is very hesitant at the moment. It hasn't been this hard to sell a flat in Stockholm since 2008. ('Normally' a flat like mine would sell within a couple of weeks). But I'm not giving up, of course not.
Thanks for reading 🌸
Love and blessings to you all 💚
