If you observe the first photo you can see a river, a forest, and some houses on the hill. I think there is also a little castle in that forest... The river is wide, a proper ample river that would need a long bridge in order to cross it. What adds to the weight is that in this case, we are not crossing just the river but going with the same bridge to another country. This is a no man's land, I mean no man's bridge, as we stepped out of one country and are heading to another one. We will enter it when we cross the arch.
...
That would be the easy scenario.
The crazy scenario would be to take a walk there, although you see a nice landscape.
The real scenario was that we were stuck! Even the yellow (maybe it was orange? I have to ask my sister) little plush toy dog (or is it maybe a key ring? I should definitely check with my sister what she has in her car) was stuck in that bridge. Between two countries, at the border crossing. In the no man's land.
One of my nieces left the car. Then I left it too and took a photo of the river. I also took a photo of the objects that made us stay there for some twenty minutes, immovable, in the middle of the bridge.
There was a cargo truck that blocked our path. Well, two of them, but which blocked us was the blue one. He was parked on our side of the road where we were supposed to drive. And he didn't want to move 😂
The funny thing is that there was no way back either. In front of us - two cargo trucks. Behind us were trucks and cars, with no possibility to drive back anymore. We were stuck in the middle of the bridge.
Cool, right? hahahah
But the attitude was something like: Let's make the most of the situation. I was a bit chilling and seeing the river and forest and my niece was talking to the truck driver and made him move his ass vehicle from there.
Finally, we could move and cross the border, enter the country we were heading to and arrive at one shopping mall. My sister wanted to purchase a gift and later go to one city, Osijek.
If you would have just one minute in this city, you would have to see the cathedral in the centre. That is a must. It was built a bit more than a century ago, in a neo-gothic style.
Sometimes this church likes to show itself as crooked, but just for the people like me. The better photographers can catch it in its perfect shape and position. Also, don't forget that we talk here about a one-minute visit.
But maybe if you have two minutes... then try to look at the pavement and follow the rails of the tram. It usually goes by the city centre, so please don't stand on these rails. I could do it just because the tram was suspended, due to the road work in the city centre.
It goes to two different streets. Is it because we are at the minute two?
No, I don't think so.
But just in case, let's consider that we have three minutes to spend in this city. We can also start to watch the facades of the buildings. One building, another and another one... three is enough to get the idea of what the buildings in the centre look like.
With four or more minutes in Osijek, you would even have time to stand by these sculptures. Maybe take a seat or...
...or, visit the river. Let me present it to you.
River Drava.
So, there were also plans to go to the beach and swim there but it would be a SaturdaySwim post. We all know that we are in the SaturdayWalk community, right? No? Ah, ok, WednesdayWalk community, of course, so we skipped the swimming part.
We have spotted also a smaller canal, a part of the Drava where the boats are moored. As we see, there are small boats but a few bigger ones too. These are restaurants, on water. Having lunch in one of them was our last destination... I guess we had already more than five minutes in Osijek.
We have chosen El Paso. Maybe because it looked nice or because of the Spanish name. Though not much Spanish food is what we found there. None actually. Probably the Mexican city was in the owner's mind when named his restaurant.
The interior was nice too. We were on the upper floor as the principal terrasse was almost full of people and the tables had to be reserved. It was calm up there, but maybe too calm as our lunch arrived with a delay (from our perception). We didn't have soooooo many minutes for waiting :D
Still, all these places - the cathedral, a few streets and the river bank gave us a nice walk in Osijek. I think, better than walking while crossing the border.
