A few days ago someone asked me what we are doing in the Wednesday Walk community? The easiest and most natural response would be that we are walking there, obviously. But my answer was not just that short, I tried to bring a bit longer the concept of the posts as maybe I would like to see a new member joining the initiative. Though, I could do that convincing part a bit better. Anyway, walking is healthy, not just for the body but for the mind too. When we go out, to the streets of our cities, we see the usual sights we always do. The same street, house, river, seashore, canal, park or anything else. They seem already boring to us, but others can enjoy that place.
But even if someone doesn't really think that would find something interesting in the walk, surprises can come. So unexpectedly, they just pop up in front of our eyes, and we are involved in new adventures in no time. That is also healthy. There are more benefits in that part than in breathing fresh air and doing an easy exercise.
So, it happened that on Friday I suggested my tiny family go to the mountain the very next day, early in the morning and spend there the day. The tiny family was reduced to an even smaller version as one of the members found some excuses not to attend the event. Spend the day in nature event.
So you see, my walk didn't happen close to my home, or office, as the author of this initiative suggested. I am paraphrasing, but something like: go out, take a short walk and find something interesting to show to your digital audience. My walk happened not that close to my home, but yes close to the place I made myself a small camp. Improvised camp. We have a small open tent, more like a shelter from the sun and wind, but this time I left it in the car. I spread a blanket on the soft grass, among the trees and hung our straw hat on a tree branch. This was my view from the βhomeβ that day. The sky and branches above me. Hight trees and high dreams, up to that blue sky.
Before I started my Wednesday Walk that happened on Saturday, around my improvised home in nature, I was chilling there, with some ants, dragonflies, birds and a book. One that I started to read a long time ago and left there forgotten, on the bedside table. A good try to catch up a bit with the adventures of the protagonist of Jeff Lindsay's book. But this is before I realized I can have my own adventure, and my own book, all in one. I just had to let myself listen to my inner screenwriter.
That is how happened that I went close to the fishing rods that my husband brought. It has been around a year since the last fishing session. What I like in these days is that I usually leave the boys in the "camp" and then I go around the lake and explore, and when I come back maybe we have some ingredients for dinner. But many times it is just the day spent there that we get, which is also cool.
Let's go back to the fishing rod scene.
The camera closes up...
Music becomes more dramatic...
Mipiano is having a snack and pretends to take care of the rods while her husband is checking out the commodity of the soft grass and blanket...
Then suddenly, the blue fishing rod goes crazy (see the cover photo to find the mentioned object π) and the protagonist of this adventure story grabs it and screams! Excitement mixed with panic, what to do? Easy answer, catch the fish!
I caught that fish!!!
...with some help, but anyway, it was my trophy. And an opportunity to brag a bit, as who would guess that a person dedicated to piano playing can catch a fish? Nobody would say that.
But this story is an adventure story and after the reading a book and chilling part, fishing and bragging about it, some new and fresh scenes can come to the screen. This is how I went for a short walk around the lake.
At least this is what I thought it will be, a full route around the lake (that would take two and a half hours approximately). I made this route several times, once alone, then with the family and also with my friends. This time it had to be the alone with my thoughts version, but the walk through the forest didn't last for that much time.
At one point the road was closed. Not advised to pass there as the strong rain washed away one part of the road. Actually, in this photo we don't see that hole in the ground, as it was a bit further than this barricade tape.
I made a U-turn and my feet guided me back to the other part of the forest. I passed by my mini improvised home, my tiny camp and followed the narrow road that the woods were offering me. Again some dragonflies (they are very fast, no way I could shoot any) birds and bugs crossed my path, and a lot of tiny flowers.
Not that those flowers gave me a lot of material to build a story around them. No. They were quiet and calm, however, some of them were dancing with their thin bodies and pretty heads. The wind was the music and rhythm they followed in their flower dance.
We can see that they are nothing special, pretending to be nice fine flowers that can not harm anybody. But the reality is that they also have their secrets and adventures, they are bug killers shelters for bugs. I don't know the reason why those bugs were deep sleeping, with their legs stretching towards the sky. Saw many of them, but took just a few pieces of evidence from the crime scene.
I left the case of flowers and sleeping bugs to their destiny and continued with my walk and exploration. An explorer should be ready to find the weirdest thing but meeting a black panther was a surprise even to me. The poor little skinny panther. A cat, with a collar, so I think and hope he has a home and an owner. I saw one camper parked on the road before the forest started, with a dog bed and food outside of it. Maybe the cat belonged to them, just wanted to be a bit free and walk alone in the woods, as I did. This was our encounter.
I let him smell my hand, as a sign of greeting. Then he received a lot of cuddles. The poor little guy was very skinny and had some kind of skin issue, a condition when a cat loses the hair in some parts. I hope he found later his owners.
When we said goodbye and I continued with my exploration, I thought it was all for that day. I caught a fish, saw a closed path in the forest, and met killer plants and one mini black panther. Can anything else happen in that mibook? No chance that I could add to my adventures a hydroplane, right?
But I have to add it, as I indeed saw a hydroplane, it landed three times at the lake. When you see it in the sky, it looks like a common small plane. However, when it lands on the top of the lake you know it is not just an ordinary plane.
Let's see that hydroplane landing on the surface of the lake:
Oh, wrong photo. We don't see here anything. Just a moment to find the adequate evidence...
Ok, here it is! It was a...
...successful...
...and safe...
...landing...
...on the Lake airport!
As it landed three times, I think that maybe they were practising or just came to have a bit of my and your attention. Could be. Now we can say that we had enough of the weird stuff happening there, in wild nature, on Saturday. This was already a lot of fun, too much for one walk. Nothing else can happen, I was sure about that until I...
Met a cowboy!
Actually a cowgirl, and we had a nice chat there. She revealed to me how strange things happened to her that day, that she met a cat, a hydroplane, flowers and dead bugs, caught a fish and had a nice time there. I couldn't believe it, I had the feeling I met my soulmate, and what a coincidence all that happened to me too. It took me a while before I had the revelation... it was just my shadow!
The nature style adventures turned out to be mi style adventures, maybe escaped from that book I was reading there or just came out from that head with a hat. But all the photo evidence is here, so try to believe this story!
