Hello and howdy lovely people on Hive!🤗 I hope you are doing great on this beautiful day!
It was a bright sunny day when I decided to accept the invitation of my cousin for her village's fiesta celebration.
As you may know, being a Christian nation, fiesta celebration is one of the traditions that Filipinos look forward to every year. It has become a family affair and a family get-together.
And since it's a rare chance to have come to this place about an hour from home, it was also a beautiful opportunity for me to travel to places I don't often visit. And so for today's blog, let me share with you Our Delightful Stroll to this village called Calape, Daanbantayan, Cebu to Attend the Fiesta Celebration!
The Amazing Ride
At about 11:30 in the morning, I and my husband and daughter left for Calape on our motorbike. Traveling with motorbikes can be fast and easy, especially in the countryside where there are no frequent trips by public buses or vehicles.
It can also be convenient as we can stop at places anytime we want or need to!
The Eye- Catching Sceneries
The Array of Green Trees
It's not my first time passing by this area but I can't help but get captivated by the array of trees (I'm not sure of its name but shaped like Christmas trees) that serve as shields and protection of a Golf and Country Club behind these green scenery. (Although, I haven't gone inside and saw for myself the golf course.)
But just then I knew there's this village called Mercedes Golden Village Condominium and Resort hidden behind these perfectly shaped trees but I assumed the sign reveals it so.
The Fantastic Aisle of Medellin
Before reaching Calape, we need to get past the municipality of Medellin, a 2nd class municipality (source) located in the northern part of Cebu province.
One thing this town is most proud of is its very straight road that stretches long amidst the vast field. Because of it, this long straight aisle of Medellin has become a famous spot for photo opportunities for motorists and passersby. It has actually once been featured in a famous TV documentary in the Philippines.
Not only it is very wide and straight, you won't mind the heat of the noon sun passing by the area with this vast field of green grasses that added beauty to the landscape.
As we continued further on, we encountered this group of youngsters taking a quick pose in the middle of the aisle despite the scorching heat of the sun.
The large pots with lovely flowering plants sitting by the roadside and ushering motorists complement the scenic beauty of the place.
When In Calape
As we arrived, a lot of locals were seen crowding in this corner which showed we were at the right spot. The hanging tarpaulin that greets everyone a Happy Fiesta welcomed us as we entered this narrow unpaved road.
As you can see, there’s a lively market along this road where vendors sell different stuffs like refreshments, toys, balloons, ukay-ukay (or pre-loved clothes), footwear, cellphone accessories, and many more.
And because Calape is located near the sea, you could expect fish vendors selling fish in this little market. A market that’s only alive during special occasions like fiesta.
For sure, Yani, my little girl knows what she likes in this market! Yay!. It must be a balloon, a toy or okay the mango shake!lol
Getting through despite the thick crowd, we finally reached our destination. As we were a bit late for lunch and visitors had already left when we arrived, we had the festive lunch for ourselves!
The time was ours to spend well and worthwhile in Calape so we took a stroll around and enjoy the beauty of the place.
The Place for Religious Activities
As we seldom come here, we should not miss lighting candles and saying a little prayer for the whole family outside this little chapel a few meters from my cousin’s house. These devotees were preparing for a Holy Mass celebration as well as a solemn foot procession with these beautifully decorated carriages.
The Hidden Paradise
Trying to get some fresh air because of the sweltering heat, we took a stroll around the place and our feet brought us to this relaxing spot just at the back of my cousin’s humble abode.
I and the family had gone swimming here during our last visit and we thought we’d like to drop by here today anyways if not for swimming but to relax and enjoy the fresh air in here.
This is a public beach and anyone can enjoy taking a dip here as well as spend the day joyfully camping, eating out, and or just chilling!
As we arrived, I could see a few locals, young and adults swimming in the sea while a few others were enjoying the relaxing mood lying down at this grassy area under the shade of a tree.
Still, others were only chilling while this man seemed busy attending to his fish grilling. Hmmm, this freshly grilled fish should be perfect to set the mood for food in this beautiful place!
As I looked around, I could feel the genuine joy of these two boys happily swimming toward the opposite side of the beach despite the burning heat.
But what caught my attention was this seemingly falling rock on this side as if it was about to fall! I was amazed at how it was confident and trusting it was of the other rock below it. It truly was a wonderful sight!
This calf seems to have enjoyed its meal and become a perfect photo beauty at this spot!
Even though it was just short and quick, it was, indeed a delightful visit and stroll to the village and hidden beach paradise in Calape, Daanbantayan, Cebu. Not only because of the wonderful sightseeing experience but the strong bond created by the whole family brought together by this traditional fiesta celebration.
And this is all for today's blog dear Hivers. I'm glad you went with me on this delightful stroll. Thank you for reaching this far reading and supporting my blog. See you again in my upcoming blogs. Until then.....
