As the mercury soared to a scorching 40 degrees Celsius in Dhaka, venturing outdoors felt like stepping into an inferno. The relentless heat enveloped the bustling city, casting a stifling haze over our Wednesday walk.
With schools shuttered due to the heatwave, escaping the confines of our apartment seemed imperative, despite the oppressive weather!
Stepping outside, the oppressive heat threatened to suffocate us. Even though our south-facing apartment provided some reprieve from the sweltering temperatures, the urge for fresh air beckoned us outdoors. Little did we anticipate the intensity of the heatwave awaiting us.
Navigating the streets of Dhaka on a blistering day is akin to traversing a fiery furnace. The city, teeming with life and energy, never seems to relent, even in extreme weather conditions. Despite the soaring temperatures, the streets remained bustling, a testament to the city's perpetual state of motion fueled by its overpopulation.
Seeking solace from the oppressive heat, we went to Ramna Park, hoping to find respite in its verdant expanse. However, even this oasis in the concrete jungle was not immune to the sweltering weather.
The kid's zone, usually a haven for playful escapades, was overrun with visitors seeking refuge from the heat, leaving little room for enjoyment.
Disheartened but undeterred, we ventured onto the green streets, hoping to catch a breath of fresh air amidst the chaos. However, the bustling thoroughfares and congested traffic only added to our discomfort, prompting a hasty retreat back home.
As we trudged homeward, passing by iconic landmarks like the Murter monument and the University of Dhaka, we lamented our inability to pause and appreciate their beauty amid the heatwave's onslaught. The oppressive conditions served as a stark reminder of the fragility of our plans in the face of nature's fury.
Arriving back home, drenched in sweat and weary from the ordeal, we resolved to embrace the sanctuary of our abode. With schools closed and outdoor activities rendered impractical by the heat, we vowed to create moments of joy and excitement within the confines of our home.
As we anxiously awaited relief from the relentless heatwave, we found solace in the hope offered by the weather forecast. With promises of cooler days on the horizon, we clung to the belief that this oppressive heatwave would soon be a distant memory, replaced by the gentle caress of a refreshing breeze.
Until then, we braced ourselves for the challenges of surviving the scorch in the heart of Dhaka.
Apologies for the blurry photos. The intense sunlight made it difficult to see my phone screen, and I didn't realize something was obstructing my camera lens.
