An entry for the #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by .
I actually got this walk in yesterday morning. Thunderstorms were expected today, so I planned ahead and thought I'd walk a trail along a local river to see what was going on in the area.
There used to be some woochuck homes at the end of the trail, and my hope was that I could get there and back without the hordes of mosquitoes destroying my body. I first found a big old tree that had long fallen into the river.
I then snuck out on a little sand bar, along the shore, to get a look at the landscape afar. The mosquitoes really attacked me at this point, but I managed to get a photo of another piece of driftwood, as well as some animal tracks who had visited the area before me:
I then hightailed it back to the trail, and started a more brisk style walk to attempt the cloud of mosquitoes now hovering around me.
I continued along the path, and then manged to get around a river bend and take this photo:
I didn't realize I had taken that photo, but on the left, you can see some "stuff' in the corner. I managed to walk right into a city of tents for the homeless, and I decided to turn around so that I would not bother the folks living here. I would have taken a photo, but felt it wasn't appropriate, either. I'm not sure how these folks are living out here with all the mosquitoes, but if it works and they are happy (and the city is happy), I'm good with it too!
The walk back allowed a few more photos of some vegetation, trees, and the one wildflower I found:
And away I headed back to the main trail, and eventually home....my sweats and boots covered in mud, dew, and ticks.
So happy I forgoe to wear the new hiking boots on this one...they'll get there soon enough, but I'm trying to keep the clean for little bit.
That's it for this week's walk. I hope everyone out there is having a wonderful Wednesday as well. Until next week...
