What a truly delightful day it was for a #WednesdayWalk! Despite the lingering chill in the air, the glorious sunshine beckoned me outdoors, promising the first signs of spring. My quest for the day? Frolicking lambs and the delicate beauty of cherry blossoms.
My journey took me high above our quaint English village, winding through enchanting woodlands. The air was alive with the flutter of numerous Red Admiral butterflies, a vibrant splash of color against the awakening landscape.
As I ventured further, a field burst into life with the playful antics of lambs, their joyful bleats echoing through the crisp air. It's moments like these that truly capture the essence of spring.
The path continued, serenaded by the gentle murmur of babbling brooks.
Along their banks, a carpet of bluebells emerged, their deep hues contrasting beautifully with the cheerful, bright clusters of forget-me-nots, proudly making their presence known. It was a symphony of natural beauty at every turn.
Adding a touch of history and whimsy to the walk, I passed by traditional weavers' cottages, their ancient stones whispering tales of generations past.
And then, a charming surprise – a whimsical face carved into a tree trunk, a hidden gem that brought a smile to my face. How fun to find something you've never come across before - or had I passed it and never noticed? Well it's been a few years since I've been walking in these parts.
Finally, my destination came into view: the far side of the reservoir, where I was greeted by the breathtaking sight of cherry blossoms. Their delicate petals, a soft pink against the clear blue sky, were a perfect reward for the journey.
I couldn't help but wonder if, years ago, there were even more of these magnificent trees. I sincerely hope they haven't been lost to time.
This walk was a wonderful reminder of the simple joys and hidden wonders that await us when we step outside. I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into my Wednesday Walk! Thanks to this initiative started by for encouraging us all to get out, take a walk, and notice the beauty around us.
