If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you already know that I have a fig tree. I planted it a few years ago, and ever since then, I’ve shared at least one update HERE. My dear Yorkie was pictured there! Apparently, because of that, this tree has earned its own little archive on my corner of the internet.

Last month, I posted a quick update HERE showing how full of leaves it still was. Most of the plants had already shifted into their fall slowdown, but the fig tree was holding on like it was still mid‑season. It wasn’t subtle. It was green, leafy, and acting like the weather didn’t apply to it.

Yesterday, I went out to check on it again and took new photos. The change was immediate and obvious. The tree is now completely bare. Not a single leaf left anywhere. The branches that were covered just a few weeks ago are now exposed, and the whole tree looks like it finally caught up to the calendar overnight. No slow transition. Just done.

What hasn’t changed are the figs. The same three fruits I pointed out last time are still there, in the exact same spots. No leaves, no surrounding growth, nothing else hanging on...just those three figs. They look almost out of place now, like they missed the memo or decided to stay put out of sheer stubbornness.

That’s the update. Nothing dramatic, just the usual seasonal shift, but the contrast from last month to now is worth noting. I’ll keep an eye on those figs to see if they eventually drop or if they plan to stay there all winter.

With this tree, I’ve learned not to assume anything.
