Here are scenes from a walk in the Missouri Botanical Gardens for this #wednesdaywalk by
Here is a strange glass sculpture in the greenhouse dome. I think I've seen this artist's work elsewhere throughout the midwest at various other venues.
The greenhouse dome creates a jungle environment with all sorts of strange plants. This flower hangs down like a bell and is quite large. If only they had a bird of paradise here to be trying to harvest pollen or nectar out of it.
They even build a faux waterfall to add humidity.
Some of these jungle trees are quite huge. I even saw some bananas growing in here somewhere.
Now they just need a few tiny marmosets or spider monkeys to complete the jungle atmosphere. I suspect they would get out of control and ruin the plants though.
More strange glass sculptures, they kind of remind me of flamingos for some reason.
After that hot humid greenhouse we went walking out to the Japanese garden. They featured some volcanic stones that were treated like sculptures.
They kind of have some interesting character to them, I wish I would have taken a picture of the description to see if they gave these animal names or personified them in any way.
In the Japanese garden there were intricate stone pictures, like this yin/yang composition.
Here is part of a dragon/bird composition. It was a bit too large to get the whole picture.
Just a nice white egret of sorts.
In the middle of the gardens there is a large gazing pool with more glass sculptures and lots of lily pads. Sadly no fish are in this thing, I suspect they would get overfed by visitors.
Here is a new garden area we've never been to. They really focus on creating interesting paths and structures with plant to hang off of them eventually.
Its always nice to integrate a fountain into the layout of the place.
In fact most areas had multiple fountains like these silly geese coming in for a landing while spitting water everywhere.
Lots of sculptures here too. Three spiral fish surrounded by sensitive plants that close when you touch them.
This used to be where koi were. But sadly it was under maintenance and they drained the pond. Perhaps they need to scrape out the fish poop and algae every so often for a clean environment for the fish.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
