I'm finally back for another #wednesdaywalk by
I saw this old looking alleyway with lots of wires and thought it would make a nice watercolor someday. Have to come up with some kind of creature to inhabit the alleyway though.
Stuck at the park playground again while dodging various ticks that crawl around and keeping my daughter free of getting bitten by ticks as she slides and climbs the jungle gym over and over again.
A naughty squirrel that digs in the trash behind our condo. This time it found some cookies one of the neighbors threw away.
Back at the lake again. This year it is quite mucked up with algae.
I found some wild irises growing at a forest preserve. Most of them are yellow but this is a first seeing purple ones.
Sadly a baby brown snake got run over on a bike path. I've really been hoping to catch one of these again to show my daughter, instead she got to see this dried out mummified one.
Now for a goose saga.
Two families of geese hatched off my neighbor's balconies. This is one family and I think they recognized me as they walked right up to me.
This might be the 5th generation of geese that have hatched off my neighbor's balcony. Now we are getting additional pairs of them nesting.
Nice and tame by seeing us all the time. Plus they have only a quarter mile walk to the lake from the balconies. My neighbors and I often get roped into tossing stray babies off the balcony to the rest of their family as they head to the lake.
Sometimes we only notice a lone gosling by itself left on the balcony and we have to take it to the lake and try and find the family to reunite it with them.
Fortunately there are at least three families of geese at the lake each year. They seem to adopt them readily as I doubt I am reuniting them with their original family. They'll sort themselves out eventually lol. As they grow I keep a count on how many of them survive. So far only one has gone missing so far out of 18. Maybe a skunk or fox got it.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
