I brought my zoom lens with me while walking my daughter in the evening and found nests everywhere for this #wednesdaywalk by
House sparrows are everywhere claiming nest spots. As it turns out my town has loads of deep signage lettering, perfect for nests.
Here is part of the word COFFEE with two large messy looking nests taking up the C and O. My daughter always asks me to lift her up to see the birds.
Nearby is a school of rock and the C makes a killer nest area.
The other C works well too. These sparrows are going to get really familiar with 90s rock songs living here.
Here is a smaller condo nest in a fat O.
What the sparrow sacrifices in space it will gain in food as this is part of the Dunkin Donuts logo.
I even heard some tiny cheeps in here. I suspect these guys will be nice and fat from feeding off of donut crumbs.
A healthier alternative in the fancier part of town is the S in a Sushi sign.
High end gourmet for these sparrows and maybe the wasabi can also burn off the mites in their feathers.
On the more industrial part of town a sparrow gets a nice modern house when part of a vent grate has fallen off. They probably also get warmed by whatever is venting here... Let's hope it is not venting a bathroom lol.
Meanwhile on my neighbor's 5th floor balcony a large Canada goose is nesting in the planter. This is the fifth year in a row these guys have chosen this spot. Us neighbors have to band to gether whenever the eggs hatch and make sure the goslings fall off the right side of the building to make their way to the lake.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
