From time to time I visit this park, which with its hundreds of trees can be considered the lung of the city of La Victoria, in Aragua state (Venezuela). With the intense heat that we are experiencing this month in most of the country, it is an ideal place to feel some freshness, let's go inside!
De vez en cuando visito este parque, que con sus cientos de árboles puede ser considerado como el pulmón de la ciudad de La Victoria, en el estado Aragua (Venezuela). Con el intenso calor que estamos experimentando este mes en casi todo el país, es un sitio ideal para sentir algo de frescura, ¡entremos!
It is called Parque La Estación (Station Park) and apart from the natural beauty it houses and the recreational areas it offers visitors, it also has an interesting past.
Se llama Parque La Estación y aparte de la belleza natural que alberga y las áreas de esparcimiento que ofrece a los visitantes, tiene también un interesante pasado.
This park opened on February 1, 1894, the date on which Venezuela's Great Railroad was also inaugurated. These spaces were part of a train station, a system that was in operation between 1894 and 1966 and linked the capital city of Caracas with Valencia, passing through different points, including the city of La Victoria.
Este parque abrió el 1 de febrero de 1894, fecha en la que también se inauguró el Gran Ferrocarril de Venezuela, y es que estos espacios formaban parte de una estación de tren, sistema que estuvo operativo entre los años 1894 y 1966 y que unía a la capital, Caracas, con Valencia, pasando por diferentes puntos, entre ellos la ciudad de La Victoria.
Now let's start the walk, when you enter the park there is a main path that takes you directly to the only thing that remains of the train station, this yellow building that you see in the photo, in which sometimes exhibitions or cultural events are held.
Ahora iniciemos el paseo, al entrar al parque hay una caminería principal que te lleva directamente a lo único que queda de la estación de tren, esta edificación amarilla que ven en la foto, en la cual a veces se montan exposiciones o se hace algún evento cultural.
On its 22 hectares there are several facilities, such as playgrounds, a soccer field, exercise machines, ping-pong tables and many concrete walkways and dirt trails for walking or jogging.
En las 22 hectáreas que posee hay varias instalaciones, como parques infantiles, cancha de fútbol, máquinas para hacer ejercicios, mesas paga jugar ping-pong y muchas caminerías de cemento y senderos de tierra para caminar o trotar.
As I said at the beginning, the trees are the great protagonists of the park, some are huge, perhaps there are still some survivors from when this place was founded. One of the most pleasant areas is where there are many bamboos, I think they create a special scenery.
Como dije al principio, los árboles son los grandes protagonistas del parque, algunos son inmensos, quizás hay todavía algunos sobrevivientes de cuando se fundó este lugar. Una de las zonas más agradables es donde se encuentran muchos bambús, me parece que crean un escenario especial.
There is a ditch here, which I suppose circulates water when it rains, and there is even a small bridge over it.
Por aquí hay una zanja, supongo circula el agua cuando llueve, incluso hay un pequeño puente sobre ella.
When you look up at a certain point, you see this beautiful concentration of trees.
Cuando levantas la vista en agún punto, ves esta bonita concentración de árboles.
In dry season, like now, you can also see the ground full of dry leaves, it feels good to walk on them, they bring a softness to your steps, whether you walk or jog.
En temporada de sequía, como ahora, también se ve el suelo lleno de hojas secas, se siente bien caminar sobre ellas, aportan una suavidad a tus pasos, ya sea si caminas o trotas.
For those of us who like to exercise outdoors, this type of park offers an ideal space to create the routine or circuit we want. For example, we can warm up, then jog and finish doing some machines, all surrounded by lush nature.
Para los que nos gusta ejercitarnos al aire libre, este tipo de parques ofrece un espacio ideal para crear la rutina o el circuito que queramos. Por ejemplo, podemos calentar, luego trotar y finalizar haciendo algo de máquinas, todo esto rodeados de una naturaleza frondosa.
