Honestly to be with nature is peace, and to enjoy that peace with the one you love is perfect harmony. Today after a long break the hubs and I went to the botanical park for a walk. Actually this should have happened yesterday which was our Independence day but since our second son visited us yesterday we decided to go there today. We missed the biannual flower show but we did get to see parts of the show still in display.
If you see this carving of the Buddha from dead wood you'll will know the peace that reigns here. When peace marries beauty there is nothing to beat that union. The age old question of whether the egg came first or the chicken came first popped up in my mind. Did Buddha find peace in the nature around or did the peace that Buddha found make the space around him seem so beautiful. Either way peace and beauty reigns here in this scene just as we enter the park.
I think I have visited this park a few hundred times, but each time I come back so captivated by its freshness and beauty. The sun was blazing down on us and after walking for a while we felt that our heads would split due to the heat, we sat there on a park bench for a while. The hubs and I rarely sit when we go for a walk. The cool breeze that touched our faces, the beauty around us filled us with a kind of happiness we always feel when we are with nature.
A refreshing drink of green mango with salt and red pepper felt so amazing. We never takes chances with our health when we go out, so this drink was out of a tetra pack. We sat there admiring the water jets in the lake, the birds and just the green, green scenery of all.
The sound of water, the greenery around me, flowers and trees transported me into a different land. I think I was speaking in poetic prose and got some weird looks from the hubs. As usual I got carried away by my surroundings.
I was so immersed in the beauty around me that I failed to be annoyed by the crowds around. It was then I saw something that jolted me out of the daze I was in. It was as if I was transported to an era from the past. I saw an elderly man from the state of Rajasthan dressed in his traditional attire. His spotless white clothes, the impeccable way in which he wore his turban and the lines on his face trans-located me to another world and perhaps another time. It reminded me of the old world charm of India before the Britishers plundered our land and changed the very fabric of our culture. More about that in another post. Did you like this image? Tell me in the comments if you feel so inclined to.
Another thing that captured my attention today was the countless poinsettia plants in bloom at the flower show. I Have just planted mine, August is when I always plant them and they work their magic in December with no coaxing whatsoever. The changing weather does the job for them. So it was shocking to see how these plants were force bloomed before their time and season. While it is colorful and beautiful to see plants in bloom I think it isn't fair to fool nature and coax her to do her work out of season. There is a certain charm and beauty about each season, so doing things out of season is like spoiling the fun for me, maybe this is just my personal opinion.
Regardless of what I feel about certain things I still enjoyed my walk and had a great time. Just walking hand in hand with the hubs makes any day great day for me. I cherish moments like these. We also created a memory by taking our first selfie together and sending it to our boys who were quick to respond. Funnily neither of us have taken a selfie before, never ever. We don't enjoy being photographed would you believe that! I don't think we'd ever get selfie crazy after this also I guess.
Thanks for accompanying me on this walk, tell me which image you like the most. Have a wonderful Wednesday. It's nearing my sleep time, my long day is done, so see you again in my next post, God willing.
