Hi Hivers, I always look forward to meeting you in the Wednesday walk community. Hope you are all having a wonderful day!
A walk around this lake right in the middle of the city has been on the cards for sometime. However, just the thought of the city traffic is enough to make me put these thoughts away into a locker for safe keeping. The beauty of this lake, (not a big one) is something that draws me to it all the time. My favorite garden supplies shop is very close to this lake, Last week I had run out of garden supplies and I grabbed the opportunity to go to the shop get all the stuff and also take a walk around the lake. Some of these images were from before as the light was really poor.
The sun was up, bright and fiery as we left home, Google was issuing thunderstorm warnings as we drove towards the lake. The heat was intense but what needed to be done had to be done. The shopping was done in a hurry and we walked towards the lake as fast as we could. The sun shinning down on the water made for some pretty images. The broken boats which had been forsaken around the covid pandemic still lay there untouched. Broken or not it still did make a pretty picture.
The trees around the lake seemed to be creating curtains of different kinds. I just had to get the shots from the right angles. Usually around this time these trees are like thick curtains, green and luxurious, but now they seem stressed. There were no ducks at the lake when we reached there, the lake seemed lifeless with no birds of any kind at all. This was a disappointment of sorts, but to expect birds to get fried in this heat is utter madness.
The flowering season of most trees are over and we saw a lot of seed pods hanging from the trees. These long seed pods and others differently shaped were hanging from the trees.
The lake is fenced from all sides to prevent accidents, there have been many incidents around the local lakes where kids playing unsupervised fall into the lake. The corporation has now become very strict and most often its hard to get close up shots of the wild life here.
Trees are already losing their leaves here, probably because of the heat and dryness. I see a lot of dry trees around, I hope the rains are timely enough to save them. It was stiflingly hot and that made it impossible for me to walk any further. I was just happy to find an empty bench and plonk myself on it. The hubs wasn't ready to wait, the drive home would be crazy and we needed to hit the road before the rain.
It wasn't very late but the clouds above seemed to appear out of no where. Lights from the traffic across the lake was reflected in the waters. I had to get a few shots in before I got one which seemed close to what I saw in real time. what I saw in person was a sea of shimmering gold green and red lights but my camera was not picking up the colors so well from this angle.
As the weather cooled a bit the ducks were seen coming out of their hiding places in the marshes around. I would have loved to walk a bit more and enjoy the scenery a little longer. but it wasn't a risk worth taking. Bangalore roads get flooded at the drop of a hat, just a couple of days ago we lost a young techie in a road accident on the flooded road.
The weather was much brighter when we left, but we could barely see the roads as we drove home, by 5pm the street lights were on. This is a picture from before, the scene looked very much like this when we left home.
Trees and lovely leaves are what we have now. The flowers are gone, but with some more rains we would enjoy the greenery all through this year.
This was a truncated walk, but still a pleasant one. hope you enjoyed this walk with me.
Have a pleasant day!
