My walk began in Salt (Solyany) Lane and continued in Tauride (Tavrichesky) Garden. These places are not very close to my house, but my walk had a purpose for which I undertook this campaign. I decided to walk to Salt Lane to see a voluminous sculpture of one of the letters of the Cyrillic alphabet.
The sculptures of letters were installed in the squares and streets of St. Petersburg as part of the exhibition project "Thirty-Three Characters". This exhibition project was devoted to the Cyrillic alphabet.
The letter "Big Yus" was installed in Salt Lane. This letter was part of the Old Slavonic alphabet, but in the modern Russian alphabet is absent. The sound is similar to [y]. I do not like to speak negatively about works of art, but I liked this installation less than others. The complex form of the sign gave the opportunity to choose different unusual solutions, but the author preferred to dwell on a minimalist interpretation.
St. Petersburg State Academy of Arts and Industry is located in Salt Lane. Students rested on a bench near a three-dimensional letter during a break between classes. A few meters further I met a beautiful drawing on the wall of the house.
The day was sunny, so I decided to go to the Tauride garden and admire the autumn landscapes. The Tauride Garden was laid out in 1783-1800 by English garden master V. Gould during the construction of the Tauride Palace. A small river was converted into a complex system of ponds and ducts. Autumn trees are reflected in calm water, and passers-by stop to feed the ducks.
