Happy New Year and as we say here in Scotland ...
Lang may yer lum reek!
Hello Hello Hivers, Hivians and any other wonderful being who has stumbled onto this!
Welcome to 2026 and I just wanted to close out 2025 with the same way I started 2026 by having a wee stoll in the park, feed the birds and walk into town.
Did you guess the meaning of the greeting ...
Long may your chimney smoke is the literal translation, because back in the day if your house had smoke coming from the chimney, it meant two things, that you had
Warmth: You had enough fuel (coal or peat) to keep the fire going....
and also...
Prosperity: You were healthy, alive, and had a roof over your head with a warm hearth.
So now that translates to being wished a long healthy prosperous life...
This then, is the sunset to 2025!
It is trying to freeze, we have had temps go down to -3 or minus 3 Centigrade which is fluffing cold to me!
So cold the pond tried to freeze!
The blasted seagulls congregate together, but I did see the swans down at the other end...
To the bottom we go!
A new visitor!! Lone Pink Footed Goose!
As the park pond is home for at least one pair of swans, they do not take kindly to geese.
However there are no chicks around and it is winter, so everyone was acted in harmony with each other!
Chalky the white duck was back!
I have not seen him for quite some time, so it is good to see him or his doppleganger back!
He is called Chalky for obvious reasons!
Sumo is one big fluffing swan!
I call this male Sumo as he is big, look at the wee girl swan in the backm she is tiny compared to him.
He is standing on the ground and the water level is worrying low, I hope that gets sorted or the fish will die.
Why is it called a Monkey Puzzle Tree?
Bye Bye lions till next next year!
Our kirk on a mound.
I found out four churches have amalgamated into one communal church and the services rotate round the churches. Hopefully that will keep them open.
Ten to Three and the sun was setting!
See the moon?
Look up, it's there!
Across the water. over the Firth.
Time to go home, and will we see a sunset?
The weather was starting to spit!
But I like the way the sunlight or sunset was coming through the windows!
Bonnie indeed!
Happy New Year!
