Wednesday walks from the Bohinj lake, where once was a glacier, to the waterfall Savica, which originates from the karst spring.
Hello dear Hive community!
After this Christmas days and putting on a lot of calories, this Wednesday walk is very good to keep us motivated to go out and move the body. Walking is good to stay healthy with good mindset. Your brain get lots of fresh air, which keeps you at the moment. It lifts your mood and lowers your stress, because you can start taking life slow and have time to observe the beauty of the surrounding details.
On our one hour and a half drive to Bohinj lake, we crossed a hill to reach the valley. There was a nice view on the mountains, so we take a break and treat ourselves with piece of potica (traditional Slovenian sweet dish we prepare for holidays).
Waterfall Savica is hidden under a big cliff, therefore it takes some small effort of walking few steps for 20 minutes to reach.
Water falls down the rock in shape of letter A. From the viewpoint you can see how the water comes from the mountain lake out of the rocks.
Our walk started near Bohinj lake, where we parked the car. The lake has its specific dark blue color, which makes it appear black. The path lead us through a beautiful winter environment, through forest and passing big rocks Boulder, which traveled down to the valley on the glacier during the ice age. Following the river stream and passing to the small but, which was an entry point for visiting the waterfall.
After paying the €3 entrance fee, the path change from snow to clean stairways made out of rocks. This place is a tourist attraction here in the area. Furthermore, it's also a starting point for many mountains, mountain cabins and lakes.
Reaching the waterfall and enjoying the beautiful scenery made us hope to come again for some hikes nearby. Just before we headed back, lots of tourists from all around the globe appeared.
Finding a quiet place in the forest, we prepared our late lunch. Night was approaching, and we drove back after a whole day trip .
