One of my favorite communities to visit is Wednesday walk ( #wednesdaywalk brainchild of ) ... permitting me to see other parts of the world through the eyes and camera lens of other Hivians.
Recently we spent the day walking around Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Join me on the outing and read a small bit about Plovdiv, courtesy of chatGTP.
Sitting halfway up Youth Hill looking out over the old city
Plovdiv is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with a history dating back over 8,000 years. The city was initially settled by the Thracians and later became a strategic center for the Roman Empire. In the Middle Ages, it was ruled by the Bulgarians and later by the Ottoman Empire, which heavily influenced the city's culture and architecture.
In the 19th century, Plovdiv became an important cultural and economic center during the Bulgarian National Revival, which led to the construction of many beautiful buildings and houses in the city's old town. The city played an essential role in Bulgaria's struggle for independence, and after World War II, it became a vital industrial center.
Today, Plovdiv is a vibrant and modern city with a rich history and cultural heritage, and it was named the European Capital of Culture in 2019. The city's old town, with its picturesque cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and ancient ruins, is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world.

We eschewed the option of grub at the pub and bought the street food which was rather good value..... I just wish that it had had a bit more seasoning !!
Subway under the main road
That is enough for now.... I have stacks of pics from the new city and the excavations of the Roman ruins... but to be honest it could be photo's taken just about any city in Europe.
Thanks for stopping by, stay safe, stay free and love the one you with !!
