Already a few days in my hometown and this is the first post I managed to write about the place I love most in the whole world. My contribution to #wednesdaywalk challenge by and a lovely chance to walk you around Nafplio, one of the most beautiful, atmospheric and historical cities in Greece.
This walk will start from this specific spot, the beginning of the central park and a building where I have spent hours, since I was having math and physics lessons here. Abandoned for years now.
As well as these trains...
The castle of Palamidi is the signature of the city and visible from all sides. I will not share historic facts in this post, it will be more like a walk with friends, looking around, enjoying the moment and honoring the memories of my childhood.
Some cats are so funny when staring at my canine companion, Markos. Their look sometimes is priceless :)
Walking in front of my old high school, I had the most pleasant surprise. This amazing graffiti of a local poet that I grew up with his poems, Nikos Karouzos.
There are still signs of the Easter "flags", a Venetian tradition that lasted through the centuries. As you can see, we are already in the old part of the city heading towards the harbor.
That was my everyday walk for almost all my non-adult life. The small castle in the sea is another landmark of the city. The weather these days is lovely. Springtime with a smell of summer.
I have spent hours, maybe months in total sitting at this bench! And so many ice creams!
Quite crowded, I tried hard to capture some "empty" photos. Nafplio is a famous destination.
But a local can always find a quiet spot!
I thing romantic is the best description for this city. No wonder why it is full of couples in love. And the vibes of the city rise and rise :)
A night walk in the narrow streets of the small city. Full of stairs and beauty.
I plan to take a lot of photos and share a lot of info. But it is much more difficult than I thought. Since I live quite far away, I don't come often anymore, so when I am here I truly want to breath it all and live it all!
Happy walks everyone!
