Here we are again walking around the old town of Nafplio, my hometown. We were supposed to be back to the island and our farm 2 days ago, but we are having such a great time that we gave ourselves one more week to fully enjoy our holiday. We are making some trips around, like this one we did yesterday and shares here :)
I will take you for a walk to my favorite places.
This is the central square where as a kid I used to bike exactly like these two little fellows.
At the background you can see part of the castle of Palamidi, visible from almost every spot of the old and new city.
The city is quite flat, ideal for bicycles.
We used to hang out on this lion-bench, lots of ice-creams included :)
The street that leads to the square is full of cozy small shops and café, photographers with style included :)
I am in love with this city, so I can only share some photos to bring my love to your screens!
Most of the houses are built after the Greek Revolution in 1821 and Nafplio back then was the first capital of the modern Greek state.
1841
You have to be very observative here to see the label 1861 :)
The characteristic flower of Nafplio is bougainvillea.
The castle is always present. Our first house where I lived till the age of 12 before we move to the new part of the city, was just under these rocks.
Even the abandoned buildings look cute here. Don't forget that I am in love with this place, so everything looks magic to me :))
And history fascinates me. Hopefully I will share more posts about the historical parts of my birthplace soon.
Sending you all love! Happy walks everyone!
