After a couple of days of heavy rain in Nha Trang, we left the city for Dalat. This is the third time I've visited this beautiful city but this time I am met with different feelings. My first visit was short filled with the newness of the unknown and excitement. It wasn't until my second visit that I realized the place was so chill. Now on my third visit, I am overwhelmed by how much has changed in just one year, but still beautiful.
I had a few posts about Dalat before but it seems never enough to talk about this stunning city. Dalat is a popular destination for travelers looking for a respite. Situated in the central highlands of Vietnam, this area is perfect for people looking to escape the heat and humidity of cities such as Saigon and Hanoi. Visitors can hike up one of the nearby mountains for fantastic views or head down to Lake Ho Xuan Huong, also known as " The Heart of the City"
Located in the center of the town, Lake Xuan Hương is Dalat's most popular tourist attraction and is visited by locals and tourists alike. The lake covers a total area of 30 hectares, making it the biggest in the city. and has a length of about 7 kilometers and a width of 5 kilometers. Its water level varies from 3 meters to 2 meters.
The history of Lake Xuan Huong is closely linked to the development of the city. In the early twentieth century, an ambitious Vietnamese emperor embarked on a nationwide construction project of lakes and gardens. This project was a prime example of the cultural exchange that occurred in Vietnam even during colonial times. Construction began in 1919 with its first name "Grand Lac".
The lake offers many attractions for visitors to enjoy. There are many different activities that can be done at Xuan Huong Lake. Visitors can partake in scenic boat rides that take them around the lake, biking, hiking, or just walking around admiring the scenery and enjoying the city. As we stroll around the lake, we not only enjoy the fresh air and a variety of blooming flowers, but also the reflections of buildings and trees, which create a relaxing atmosphere.
It's great to meet a friend here and She just moved from Ho Chi Minh city to here. We hadn't seen each other in a year, so we decided to take a walk around the lake and talk for hours, reminiscing about all of our days spent together. We felt like college-aged kids again as we laughed and told stories that we had both forgotten about. It was really nice to catch up with her and explore her life through the year.
The sun was beginning to dip behind mountains, leaving golden streaks across the sky. It was so beautiful today. We walked until evening and met a couple of friendly and handsome Samoyeds on the way home.
This place has everything I love and it's just what I needed! Just spoke to my friend, I'm planning to stay here for a couple of weeks. Hence, I'll have so many articles planned for this place, and I'm so excited to explore the different aspects of the city. It has so much culture and history, but there are also fun activities for all ages here. In addition, the food is amazing. All in all, this is a great place to visit!
