I have heard of this cafe many times from different people, sometimes overheard, and it kept me intrigued about what this cafe looks like and what their food tastes like. So fortunate of me that I was able to visit it for once, by God’s grace, and finally tried my desired to-order-when-I-visit-Kapenarra foods. Let’s check it out together and see how Kapenarra looks like.
Before my boyfriend and I headed to Kapenarra, we decided to try first the newest Korean photobooth in Bogo City since it has been making a crowd and noise for weeks now, and it would be our loss if we didn’t try it. The photobooth is only 150 Php, as I heard from folks, and it was not regretful to avail the booth. At first, we were cringed by the filters installed in the booth, and it took us time to figure out how to use it. After long laughs, embarrassment, and doubt, we successfully had our photos and faces printed and left the booth since the AC was not working well and we experienced being grilled.
Kapenarra is not situated beside the road and it is not easily accessible to visitors. If you want a comfortable and easy-to-access type of cafe, well, this one is not for you. You need to walk or ride for minutes from the highway and enter a very narrow path inside Sitio Guadalupe before reaching the cafe. A big Kapenarra signage will greet you, and if you come in the evening, the cafe lights will even make the scenery brighter and more welcoming.
This cafe is quite big. I have never seen a cafe this big other than this one. Not only the cafe building makes it big, but the whole area, including the garden, the restobar, and the entire land. It is spacious, good for taking photos, and perfect for family celebrations as well as other gatherings. When I entered here, I thought of celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday here soon since it is really perfect for birthdays and romantic dates.
Many cuisines, dishes, pastries, and drinks are offered in Kapenarra. I have borrowed their menu and sent it to my social media for your reference of what they sell. They are quite pricey, but the prices are justified by the quality of the food and drinks. The staff were also welcoming, greeted us with smiles, and made us comfortable with our dining experience. We ordered chicken sandwich, a pair of green apple soda, and baby back ribs which totals to 1,200 Php.
What I love about this cafe is the aesthetically pleasing interior designs and murals. It is stunning, beautifully crafted, and well-designed. The lights in this cafe create a romantic and peaceful ambience, and the paintings on the walls make the atmosphere more artistic and renaissance-like. I really took the opportunity to explore the paintings, trying to decipher their meanings, and taking photos of them for blogging purposes. Our table was nestled just right under the paintings, and it was a great place to take photos with them behind us. Also, this cafe is pet-friendly. We had Zuki allowed to enter, as long as pets wear diapers and owners take responsibility for them.
Kapenarra is also known for its bountiful garden. The Kapenarra Garden is filled with many plants and greenery, whether endemic or imported, that gives the cafe a refreshing feel. After visitors eat, they usually go outside directly to the garden and outdoor tables to have a breath after their laborious gustatory experiences. The outside features, including the garden, the restobar, tables and benches overlooking the barangay, and its iconic Japanese-like arc, are what make the cafe breathable. You can walk around the garden and see plants and elves peeping between the greens. You can go to the restobar and help yourself digest the food you ate by drinking wine. You can also walk around the heart-shaped benches that overlook the barangay and witness a stunning sunset before the day ends.
Of course, the cafe’s iconic Cars installation is also there. Many of us flocked there and took photos because it is cute and child-like. I believe all of us who ate at the cafe were fans of Cars and other cartoon movies. It healed my inner child and it was a wonderful wrap-up of our Kapenarra experience.
Overall, I really enjoyed our visit here. The place, the food, and the experience were all worth it despite the long walk going there. I would definitely come back again, maybe next time for a special celebration or just another food trip with my loved ones.
