These photos weren't taken today, but they're some I took during a short walk around the neighborhood where I live. It's a place that might not hold much interest for many beyond the simple fact of being here, but from my perspective, I try to find interesting scenes. It's a place that's usually very peaceful. Well, I see Puerto Ordaz, the city where I live, as a very tranquil metropolis, with little traffic, not much chaos, and surrounded by beautiful nature. The days here finally pass by peacefully.
Although in the past this city was among the most dangerous in Venezuela, that has changed over time. While it doesn't mean problems have disappeared, they're still present, but not as frequently. For me, it's perfect for walking around without fear of the streets, and exploring this actually quite large neighborhood is a way to capture the kind of images I love. As you can see in these photographs, there's a bit of nature, some wildlife, a glimpse of faded landscapes, and a glimpse into the daily lives of some people.
I also capture details I've noticed, like the first photograph, which shows small shoes and toys hanging from a tree. It's something that has me constantly wondering about. I honestly don't know why anyone would put those offerings on that tree, but in all the years I've lived here, I've never seen anything like it. But I'm determined to find that scene and capture it.
All photographs are my own.
