Hello, greetings 🙏. In Norway, we have very nice churches but the most attractive are the very old wooden stave churches. they are the last remaining buildings of this style which is unique in the world's architecture.
Eidsborg Stave Church was built between 1250 and 1270 and is one of the best-preserved and protected stave churches. Last year during our summer traveling around the Telemark we visited this church but I was not knowing there would be a contest like this so I took only a few photos.
The full view of the building and the location in nature makes it more beautiful.
The bell tower
The roof and walls are made with these specially designed wooden boards called staves. They are preserved with creosote which at first is black but in time lightens up to give the wood are beautiful deep glowing patina.
The church is now a museum together with some other nice very old wooden buildings.
